Penelitian ini membahas unsur-unsur intrinsik cerpen al-Aqlu al-Kabiru dalam antologi cerpen Ulbatun min as-Safihi karya Ihsan Abdi al-Quddus. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori struktural. Adapun unsur-unsur intrinsik yang dibahas adalah tema, fakta cerita yang terdiri atas karakter, alur, dan latar, serta sarana cerita yang terdiri atas judul dan sudut pandang dan keterkaitan antar unsur-unsur tersebut. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa tema cerpen ini adalah kebahagiaan tergantung dari konsep diri seseorang. Tokoh utama dalam cerpen ini adalah Aku, sedangkan tokoh tambahannya adalah Husain dan Bahjat. Alur cerpen ini adalah alur mundur. Latar tempat dan latar waktu dalam cerpen ini tidak diceritakan oleh pengarang secara spesifik. Adapun latar sosial yang tercermin yaitu cara berpikir masyarakat yang menganggap bahwa untuk mendapatkan kebahagiaan harus dengan pernikahan. Cerpen ini diceritakan dengan sudut pandang orang pertama-utama. Masing-masing unsur intrinsik cerpen ini memiliki keterkaitan erat antarunsur, yaitu keterkaitan erat antara tema dengan karakter tokoh utama, keterkaitan erat antara tema dengan judulcerpen al-Aqlu al-Kabiru, dan keterkaitan erat antara tema dengan alur cerita.

This research discusses the intrinsic elements of the short story al-Aqlu al-Kabiru in Anthology Ulbatun min as-Safihi by Ihsan Abdi al-Quddus. The analyze of it uses structural theory. The intrinsic elements contain of theme, the factual aspect of te story consist of characterization, plot, and setting, and the story feature consist of title and point of view and the correlation among the elements itself. The researcher concludes the theme of this story is happiness depends on a person's self-concept. The main character of this story is I and additional character is Husain and Bahjat. The plot is flashback. The setting place and the setting time can not be identified. The social background is the assumption of society in order to get happiness is marriage. The point of view of this story is first-person. The respective of the intrinsic elements related to each other elements, which has strong correlation between the theme with the main character, the theme closely related with the title and it is relevance with the story line.
