Self-Esteem dan Prestasi Akademik sebagai Prediktor Subjective Well-Being Remaja Awal

2014 | Tesis | S2 PsikologiPenelitian ini berangkat dari konsep masa remaja awal sebagai masa kritis individu dalam menghadapi perubahan struktur fisik-motorik (pubertas), kognitif, emosi, dan sosial. Perubahan ini menyebabkan remaja mengalami gangguan emosi dan perilaku serta memiliki subjective well-being yang cenderung rendah. Self-esteem dan prestasi akademik menjadi faktor yang mempengaruhi subjective well-being remaja awal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peran self-esteem dan prestasi akademik terhadap subjective well-being remaja awal. Subjek penelitian adalah remaja awal yaitu berusia 12 hingga 15 tahun berjumlah 326 orang dan berada di tingkat Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Penelitian ini dilakukan di kota Padang, Sumatera Barat. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan skala subjective well-being remaja awal, skala self-esteem, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi berganda. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa self-esteem dan prestasi akademik secara bersama tidak dapat memprediksi subjective well-being remaja awal. Akan tetapi, hanya self-esteem yang dapat memprediksi subjective well-being remaja awal. Self-esteem memiliki sumbangan efektif sebesar 53,4% terhadap subjective well-being remaja awal.
This research based on concept of early adolescent period as person's critical period to deal changes in the physic and motoric (puberty), cognitive, emotion, and social. This changes caused adolescent has emotional and behavioral disorders and have low of subjective well-being. Self-esteem and academic achievement as factors influence early adolescent's subjective well-being. Purpose of this research to know role of self-esteem and academic achievement toward early adolescent's subjective well-being. Subject in this research was early adolescent aged 12 to 15 years number 326 students in junior high school. This research did in Padang, West Sumatra. The data was collected using early adolescent's subjective well-being, self-esteem scale, and documentation. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The results of this research showed that self-esteem and academic achievement jointly can not predict early adolescent's subjective well-being. However, just self-esteem can predict early adolescent's subjective well-being. Self-esteem has contribution of 53,4% to early adolescent's subjective well-being.
