ABSTRACT Background: Adolescent is the majority of population in Indonesia. Adolescence is a period when there are significant changes occurred to adolescents in term of physical, psychological, social and psychosocial. These changes should be monitored and guided to prevent adolescents towards irresponsible conduct. Knowledge regarding sexual behavior and free sex defines an adolescent�s attitude. A good knowledge leads to positive attitude while the less one leads to the otherwise. Objectives: To know about adolescents� understanding about sexual behavior and free sex at SMP Negeri 2 Banguntapan. Methods: This study will be conducted as a descriptive cross-sectional study and data will be collected through questionnaire. The study will be held at SMP Negeri 2 Banguntapan on January 2014. Results: This study was conducted on 70 9th grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Banguntapan. Based on the data, the majority of students (more than 50%) were able to answer the given questions correctly. Conclusion:9th grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Banguntapan have a good understanding towardssexual behavior and free sex.
