Asrama Sumatera Barat merupakan Asrama Minang yang ada di kota Yogyakarta serta diperuntukkan bagi mahasiswa yang berasal dari Sumatera Barat. Pengolahan data dan pemesanan asrama masih dilakukan dengan metode pembukuan manual, sehingga menimbulkan banyak celah kesalahan dalam pengolahan maupun penyimpanan data. Pemesanan kamar di asrama dilakukan dengan cara langsung bertemu pengurus asrama, hal ini menciptakan masalah baru karena mahasiswa baru yang ingin mendapatkan informasi maupun memesan kamar diperlukan biaya dan waktu yang tidak sedikit. Permasalahan lainnya yaitu penyimpanan data penghuni asrama yang masih menggunakan buku, sehingga adanya kerusakan ataupun kehilangan. Dari uraian permasalahan tersebut, diperlukan suatu sistem informasi yang dapat membantu dalam pengolahan data dan menyajikan keluaran berupa informasi digital. Sistem informasi asrama ini dibangun dengan menggunakan webserver XAMPP, basis data MySQL, dan bahasa pemograman PHP CodeIgniter. Sistem informasi ini menangani proses pemesanan dan pengolahan data penghuni, data tamu dan berita atau informasi asrama. Setelah berhasil diujikan, sistem informasi ini dapat mempermudah dalam proses pemesanan, proses pengolahan data penghuni maupun kamar, tamu dan berita asrama secara jarak jauh. Diharapkan sistem informasi ini mampu meningkatkan kinerja dan proses pelayanan baik itu bagi calon penghuni maupun bagi penghuni asrama supaya lebih efektif dan efisien.

Dormitory of West Sumatra is a Minang�¢ï¿½ï¿½s dormitory in Yogyakarta, it is provided for the students who come from West Sumatra. The data processing and the room reservation are still done by using manual bookkeeping method, so that it is causing many gaps of errors or incorrect in the processing and storing of the data. The reservation of dormitory is done by going to meet the official or manager directly. The process creates a new problem for the new students because every student who wants to reserve a room and get information directly requires a large cost and time. Another problem is the storage of boarder�¢ï¿½ï¿½s data which still use manual book, as the effect is the possibilities in damaging and losing. From the description of the problem, it is clearly that an information system which can assist the data processing and presents the output in the form of digital information is required. Dormitory of West Sumatra information system is built by using the XAMPP web server, MySQL database, and the CodeIgniter PHP programming language. The information system handles the reservation and processing of boarder�¢ï¿½ï¿½s data, guest�¢ï¿½ï¿½s data and news or dormitory information. After successful tested, the information system can facilitate the reservation process, the data processing whether the boarder or the room�¢ï¿½ï¿½s data and dormitory news remotely. Expected, the information system is able to improve both of performance and service process for all the prospective boarders and even for the boarders in order to make it more effective and efficient.
