2014 | Skripsi | TEKNIK SIPILA single-story, steel-framed maintenance plant is carrying two light service overhead cranes with each capacity of 1.5 tons and 3 tons. An assessment procedure was requested since the plant almost reaches the end of its designed service life, also to ensure safe and sound operation of the overhead cranes and to determine the remaining service life of the existing structure. The assessment was performed by following general structural condition assessment procedure. It was conducted through visual observation, NDT, field load testing, as well as carrying out structural analysis upon verified structural model. The assessment results were further used to estimate the remaining service life of the existing structure and to propose appropriate remedial actions. Corrosion and buckling are the main types of deterioration found in the structure owing to high salinity and slender steel sections. Structural analysis gave maximum stress ratio of 0.374 < 0.4. Static load testing resulted in deflection value of 17 mm < 17.313 mm, while dynamic load testing resulted in DAF value of 1.06 < 1.2. In conclusion, the existing structure is considered to be structurally safe and sound with remaining service life of approximately 30 years and subject to maintenance and strengthening.
