Korean Pop sebagai Arena Budaya Baru (Studi pada Grup Cover Dance X-School)

2014 | Skripsi | SosiologiABSTRAK X-School merupakan salah grup cover dance beraliran K-Pop yang berada di Yogyakarta. X-School terbentuk karena budaya populer Korea atau yang sering disebut K-Pop, berhasil meraih hati masyarakat dunia tak terkecuali di Indonesia. Tepat Juli 2012 X-School mengukuhkan grupnya menjadi grup cover dance berjenis kelamin laki-laki yang mengcover After School yang berada di Indonesia. Korean Pop digunakan X-School sebagai arena budaya baru dalam melakukan proses pertarungan budaya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif melalui pendekatan etnografi, hal tersebut dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses pertarungan budaya yang dialami grup cover dance X-school melalui teori circuit of culture dan bagaimana dampak yang dihasilkan X-School melalui proses pertarungan budaya tersebut. Peneliti mengumpulkan data dengan melakukan observasi dan wawancara mendalam. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan perspektif Storey tentang budaya populer dan teori circuit of culture dari Paul Du Gay dan Stuart Hall. Selain itu konsep identitas Stuart Hall dan perspektif Judith Butler tentang permormativity. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa proses pertarungan budaya yang dialami grup cover dance X-School melalui proses regulasi, produksi, representasi, konsumsi, dan identitas. Menggunakan teori circuit of culture semakin memperlihatkan bagaimana hubungan keterkaitan antar komponen yang tidak bisa dipisahkan. Seperti identitas grup cover dance X-School tampak dalam akun sosial media official X-School maupun akun sosial media pribadi masing-masing anggota X-School selain itu tampak dalam fashion yang dikenakan. Fashion yang berhubungan bagaimana X-School mengkonsumsi suatu produk. Kostum yang dikenakan di atas panggung ditampilkan sebagai representasi yang nantinya memproduksi sesuatu dalam memperlihatkan identitas. Karena regulasi yang baik X-School berhasil menunjukan identitasnya. Dampak yang dihasilkan X-School melalui proses pertarungan budaya menghasilkan dua point, yaitu muncul identitas baru dan X-School mampu mengubah hobi menjadi profesi. Identitas baru tersebut adalah X-School sebagai grup cover dance pertama yang mengcover After School yang penuh totalitas dalam tarian dan kostum yang dipakai yang harus siap menerima pro dan kontra. Mengandalkan bakat alami yang dimiliki, X-School mampu mengembangkan bakat tersebut menjadi hobi, dan mengubah hobi menjadi suatu lahan profesi yang menguntungkan. ABSTRACT X-school is one of K-pop cover dance group in Yogyakarta. X-school is founded because of the Korean popular culture or what is often called K-Pop. It draws the people�s hearts all over the world successfully, Indonesia is of no exception. Exactly in July 2012, X-school declared their group as male cover dance group, covering After School in Indonesia. Korean Pop is used by X-School as a new culture arena in the process of world culture competition. The method used in this research is the qualitative research method through ethnography approach. This is to know how the world competition process of culture experienced by this X-School cover dance group via the theory of circuit of culture and how the effect resulted by the X-School takes place. The researcher collects the data through observation and detail interview. In analyzing the data, she uses the perspective Storey of popular culture and the circuit theory by Paul Du Gay and Stuart Hall. Besides, she also uses the Stuart Hall�s identity concept and Judith� Butler�s concept on permormativity. The result of this reseach shows that the process of competition of the culture experienced by X-School cover dance group is by regulation process, production, representation, consumption, and identity. By using the circuit of culture, it shows more clearly of how the inter-dependent relation among the components occurs. As a matter of fact, we can see the identity of X-School cover dance group on the official social media account or on the private social media account of each X-School member. And it can also be distinguished from fashion or costum that they wear. This is the fashion related to how the X-School consume or wear a product. The costume that they wear when they are on the stage repesents their identity product. Because of good regulation, X-School shows its identity successfully. The impacts resulted from X-School, by the culture competition process, brings about two points; X-School can create new identity and it can change the hobby into profession. The new identity is X-School as the first cover dance group covering After School that has performed totality dance and the costume that must be ready to meet pro and contra. By ensuring their nature talent, X-School is able to improvise their talent into hobby, and change hobby into profession that is profitable.
