Skripsi ini merupakan penelitian ilmiah dengan objek material novel karya Murakami Ryu yang berjudul Audition. Cerita ini mengangkat tema jasmaniah dan tema egoik. Tema jasmaniah mengangkat masalah percintaan antara Aoyama dan Asami yang berujung pada usaha percobaan pembunuhan. Tema egoik mengangkat masalah eogisitas Aoyama yang tidak mau menanggapi nasihat serta peringatan dari Yoshikawa. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori struktural dan teori psikologi humanistik Abraham Maslow. Teori struktural digunakan untuk menganalisis unsur-unsur intrinsik cerita serta keterkaitan antar unsur. Teori psikologi humanistik Abraham Maslow digunakan untuk mengetahui hubungan pemenuhan kebutuhan dasar Asami dengan motif usaha percobaan pembunuhan yang ia lakukan terhadap Aoyama. Dari hasil penelitian, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa pemenuhan kebutuhan dasar Asami mengalami hambatan. Yakni pada kebutuhan akan rasa memiliki dan rasa cinta serta kebutuhan akan harga diri karena Asami merasa dikhianati dan dibohongi Aoyama. Keadaan tersebut memunculkan motif usaha percobaan pembunuhan sebagai dampak terhambatnya proses pemenuhan kebutuhan dasar tersebut di atas. The main material of this research is Audition, a novel written by Murakami Ryu. The theme is divided into two, one is a physical theme and the other is egoistical one. The former theme is a love affair between Aoyama and Asami that ends with the murder attempt by Asami. The latter theme is the egoism of Aoyama who does not take Yoshikawa�s advice and warning. This research takes structural theory and humanistic psychology theory by Abraham Maslow. Structural theory is used to analyze the intrinsic elements and the elements interrelation one another. Theory of humanistic psychology by Abraham Maslow is used to analyze the relation between the fulfillment of Asami�s basic needs with the murder attempt she does to Aoyama. The result shows that the basic needs fulfillment of Asami was hampered due to the betrayal and lies she felt to Aoyama. These basic needs are the social needs and the esteem needs. This circumstance raises a murder attempt motive that Asami does to Aoyama as an impact the failure of basic needs fulfillment process. Kewword: Humanistic Psychology, murder attempt motive
