2011 | Skripsi | PENDIDIKAN DOKTERBackground : Dengue is considered as the most important arthropod-borne viral disease of public health significance. At present, the only method of preventing dengue virus transmission is to eradicate the vector mosquitoes, since there isn't any vaccine developed yet to keep human immune from the virus. Objectives : To know the larvicidal effect of Swietenia Mahagoni (L.) jacq seed with chloroform extract, and To discover the concentration dose of Swietenia Mahagoni (L.) Jacq with chloroform extract needed to reduce Aedes aegypti larvae. Method : This research is an experiment study according to guidelines for laboratory and field testing of mosquito larvicides, (WHO, 2005). Result : The result shows that the LC50 of the extract is 1170.401 PPM and the LC90 is 3504.516 PPM After 24 hours exposure. the standard concentration for herbal larvicide is concluded as effective is <100 PPM. Conclusion : The chloroform extract of Swietenia mahagoni (L.) jacq seed is not effective to be used as larvicidal agent against larvae of Aedes aegypti, The higher the concentration of chloroform extract of Swietenia mahagoni (L.) jacq seed, the higher the mortality of Aedes aegypti larvae.
