RESORPSI TULANG ALVEOLAR SETELAH PEMAKAIAN GIGI TIRUAN SEBAGIAN LEPASAN AKRILIK BERUJUNG BEBAS

Pemakaian gigi tiruan sebagian lepasan akrilik berujung bebas memiliki berbagai masalah terhadap jaringan periodontal. Gaya ungkit yang besar pada gigi tiruan menyebabkan keterbatasan pergerakan otot mylohyoid yang berfungsi sebagai stimulus fungsional dalam mengurangi resorpsi tulang alveolar yang berlebihan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui resorpsi tulang alveolar setelah pemakaian gigi tiruan sebagian lepasan akrilik berujung bebas. Sepuluh sampel pengguna gigi tiruan sebagian lepasan akrilik berujung bebas diamati dengan pendekatan observasi cross-sectional yang dilihat secara retrospektif. Foto rontgen panoramik sampel digunakan untuk mengevaluasi tinggi tulang alveolar mandibula dengan mengukur jarak antara mylohyoid ridge dan canal mandibula. Hasil rerata resorpsi tulang alveolar kemudian dianalisis menggunakan paired t-test. Penurunan tinggi tulang alveolar pada data setelah pemakaian gigi tiruan sebagian lepasan akrilik berujung bebas lebih besar (6,5090 ± 1,82356) daripada sebelum pemakaian (7,7000 ± 1,70106). Hasil analisis dengan paired t-test menunjukkan resorpsi tulang alveolar mandibular setelah pemakaian gigi tiruan sebagian lepasan akrilik berujung bebas signifikan (p < 0,05). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah resorpsi tulang alveolar setelah pemakaian gigi tiruan sebagian lepasan akrilik berujung bebas lebih besar dibandingkan sebelum pemakaian gigi tiruan. Secara statistik, besar penurunan tinggi tulang alveolar mandibular signifikan

The use removable partial dentures of acrylic resin in free-end case have many problems for the periodontal tissues. Leverage force at removable partial dentures give limited movement in mylohyoid muscle which can act as functional stimuli in decreasing mandible alveolar bone resorption. Aim of this study is to determine mandible alveolar bone resorption after using removable partial dentures in free-end case. Ten samples which wore acrylic resin removable partial dentures in free-end case was observed with cross-sectional methode and seen restrospectivly. Oropantomograph film from sample was used to evaluate height of mandible alveolar bone by measuring the distance between the mylohyoid ridge and mandibular canal. Mean resorption of mandible alveolar bone then analyzed using paired t-test. Resorption of height mandible alveolar bone after using acrylic resin removable partial dentures in free-end case was bigger (6.5090 ± 1.82356) then before using it (7.7000 ± 1.70106). The results of analysis with paired t-test showed significant resorption in mandible height alveolar bone after using acrylic resin removable partial dentures in free-end case (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study was the resorption in mandible height alveolar bone after using acrylic resin removable partial dentures in free-end case bigger than before using it. Statistically, the resorption in mandible height alveolar bone was significant.
