KAJIAN KONSEP MANAJEMEN PENELITIAN LINTAS DISIPLIN DI UNIVERSITAS (STUDI KASUS UNIVERSITAS GADJAH MADA)

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi parameter penentu dalam transformasi manajemen penelitian, mengidentifikasi karakteristik penelitian lintas disiplin, dan menganalisis konsep transformasi manajemen penelitian universitas. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan strategi penelitian studi kasus intrinsik digunakan dalam mengeksplorasi,menggambarkan dan menganalisis proses penelitian lintas disiplin. Sampel dari objek penelitian Universitas Gadjah Mada adalah dua unit kerja fakultas yang dari rumpun eksakta dan social yang memiliki program studi terbanyak dirumpunnya dan juga tiga pusat studi dengan klasifikasi paling lama usianya, terbesar pendanaan kegiatannya dan yang paling kecil pendanaannya. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara terstruktur dan dilengkapi dengan analisis dokumen dan observasi langsung. Proses penelitian lintas disiplin dieksplorasi dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan parameter parameter yang dimodifikasi dari konsep competing value framework. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa parameter paremeter yang digunakan mampu mengeksplorasi karakteristik penelitian lintas disiplin. Parameter parameter yang digunakan terbukti menjadi aspek aspek penentu pada pengelolaan penelitian lintas disiplin di lingkungan UGM. Universitas perlu mengubah parameter-parameter yang juga dianggap sebagai top impediments menjadi kunci yang menentukan kesuksesan pengelolaan penelitian lintas disiplin.

The research aims to identify determining factors of research management tranformation, to analyze research management transformation in unversities, and to identify characteristics of collaborative interdisciplinary research. Qualitative approach specifically intrinscic case study was employed as research method to describe, explore , and analyze management of interdsciplinary research. The sampel was pusrposively picked up by the researcher from Universitas Gadjah Mada complying some criteria namely a faculty either from exact and socio humanity cluster which have the most number of departments inside. Other samples are three study centers registered to be the oldest center study built in university, the one with the highest funding activity and the other one coming from study centers in Universitas Gadjah Mada with low level activity funding. The data were collected through semi-structured interview completed with document analysis and direct observation. The interdisciplinary research process was explored and analyzed employing modified parameters of Competing Value Framework to pursue the expected research result. The results showed that the parameters employed succesfully described the characteristic of interdisciplinary research in UGM. The parameters has been proved to be determining aspects in managing interdisciplinary research as well. The university needed to transform the parameters which are also regarded as top impediments aspects in managing interdisciplinary research to be a key determining the success of managing interdisciplinary research.
