Code-Switching in Protestant Sermons

2014 | Skripsi | SASTRA INGGRISSkripsi ini berisi penelitian tentang tipe dan variasi alih kode serta tipe klausa pada kode Bahasa Inggris di khotbah Kristen. Data diambil dari rekaman khotbah Pendeta Jeffrey Rachmat dan Pendeta Philip Mantofa. Data ini digunakan untuk menganalisis tipe dan variasi alih kode serta tipe klausa. Data tersebut di klasifikasikan ke dalam 3 kategori tipe berdasarkan klasifikasi Poplack dan terdapat 80 data berdasarkan klasifikasi tipe. Dari data yang ada, terdapat 18 (22.5%) data mengandung inter-sentential switching, 19 (23.75%) mengandung tag switching, dan 43 (53.75%) mengandung intra-sentential switching. Pada khotbah 1 (Mystery of Giving) terdapat 8 (14.8%) inter-sentential switching, 16 (29.6%) tag-switching, dan 30 (55.6%) intra-sentential switching. Sedangkan, pada khotbah 2 (Hidup Bebas dari Khawatir), terdapat 10 (38.4%) inter-sentential switching, 3 (11.5%) tag switching, dan 13 (50.1%) intra-sentential switching. Dengan demikian, tipe intra-sentential switching adalah tipe alih kode yang paling banyak ditemukan di dalam khotbah. Kemudian, terdapat 3 variasi alih kode yang ditemukan di dalam khotbah yaitu 5 kutipan, 11 istilah, dan 13 pengulangan. Dari data kode Bahasa Inggris dalam alih kode, ditemukan dua tipe klausa yaitu klausa mandiri (15) dan klausa tergabung (1 klausa benda, 2 klausa sifat, dan 2 klausa adverbial). Dalam penelitian ini, tidak ditemukan adanya pelanggaran tata bahasa, struktur, maupun arti.
This research attempts to investigate types and variations of code-switching and clause types of English codes in Protestant sermons at church. The data were taken from the recordings of sermon which are done by Pastor Jeffrey Rachmat and Pastor Philip Mantofa. It is used for types, variations and clause types. They are classified into 3 types based on Poplack’s classification and there are total 80 data of code switching found based on types. There are 18 (22.5%) inter-sentential switching, 19 (23.75%) tag switching, and 43 (53.75%) intra-sentential switching. In the sermon 1 (Mystery of Giving), there are total 8 (14.8%) inter-sentential switching, 16 (29.6%) tag-switching, and 30 (55.6%) intra-sentential switching. Meanwhile, in sermon 2 (Hidup Bebas dari Khawatir), there are 10 (38.4%) inter-sentential switching, 3 (11.5%) tag switching, and 13 (50.1%) intra-sentential switching. Thus, intra-sentential switching is the most found in Christian sermons. Therefore, there are 3 variations of code-switching which are done by Pastors found in sermons. They are 5 quoting, 11 terms, and 13 repetitions. There are two clause types found in the English codes of code-switching. There are independent clause (15) and dependent clause (1 noun clause, 2 adjective clauses, and 2 adverb clauses). In the study, there are not found any violation of grammar, structure, and meaning.
