The several characterizations of finite memory and separability properties for a two-dmensional systems, in terms of both the characteristic polynomial and the matrix pair that describes the state evolution are talked. It is also presented necessary and sufficient con&tions, which guarantee that finite memory and separability properties for two-dimensional systems are inherited by the correspondmg inverse systems, these involve only the structure of the transfer matrix.
