PENERAPAN TRAFFIC LIGHT CARD SEBAGAI ALAT BANTU PEMILIHAN PRODUK KEMASAN DI PUSAT PERBELANJAAN

Dalam satu dekade terakhir terjadi peningkatan kematian akibat penyakit degeneratif. Hal tersebut berkaitan dengan perubahan perilaku makan yang tinggi kandungan gula, lemak, dan natrium, serta meningkatnya konsumsi produk kemasan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan adanya label produk yang jelas dan transparan untuk menghindari kesalahan dalam pemilihan makanan yang dapat mempengaruhi status gizi seseorang. Traffic Light (TL), yang dikembangkan oleh The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA), merupakan format label yang telah diterapkan pada berbagai produk kemasan. Tujuan: Mengetahui persepsi dan sikap konsumen tentang penerapan Traffic Light Card (TLC) di pusat perbelanjaan. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan mixed researchs, yaitu penelitian survei yang bersifat eksploratif didukung data dari wawancara mendalam. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan April 2014. Subjek penelitian adalah konsumen di pusat perbelanjaan terkemuka di Yogyakarta dengan kriteria usia dewasa, berjumlah 95 orang. Analisis data kuantitatif menggunakan statistik deskriptif dengan software pengolah data dan data kualitatif diolah dalam bentuk transkrip. Hasil: Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa 86,3% konsumen memiliki persepsi baik serta 70,5% konsumen memiliki sikap baik tentang penerapan TLC di pusat perbelanjaan. Kesimpulan: Sebagian besar konsumen memiliki persepsi dan sikap yang baik tentang penerapan TLC di pusat perbelanjaan.

Over the last decade, there has been an increase in number of deaths caused by noncommunicable diseases. It is related to the shift in diet habits that contain high sugar, fat, and sodium compositions; also the intensification of packaged products consumption. Thus, a clear and transparent product label is needed to prevent unnecessary mistake in choosing the right food which can affect one’s nutrition status. For instance, Traffic Light (TL), which was developed by the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA), is a label format that has been implemented on various packaged products. Objectives: To identify perceptions and attitudes of consumers on Traffic Light Card (TLC) implementation at supermarkets. Methods: Type of this research used mixed researchs, an explorative survey research supported by data from in-depth interview. The research was conducted on April 2014 and the subjects of this research were consumers at well-known supermarkets in Yogyakarta. The subjects’ age criterion was adult; with number of adults surveyed for the research were 95 people. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by data processing software while qualitative data were exercised in the form of transcript. Result: From this research, it was found out that 86,3% of the consumers had relatively positive perceptions also 70,5% of the consumers had positive attitudes of the use of TLC implementation at supermarkets. Conclusion: Most consumers have already had good perception and attitude towards TLC implementation at supermarkets.
