CODE-SWITCHING IN JUST ALVIN TALK SHOW IN THE YEARS 2011-2014

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan tipe dan alasan alih kode yang terjadi dalam talk show Just Alvin tahun 2011-2014. Secara khusus, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengindentifikasi dan mengklasifikasi alih kode berdasarkan tipe dan alasan. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah transkrip percakapan dari video bintang tamu dwi bahasa Just Alvin yang berisi alih kode Bahasa Indonesia – Bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan analisis data, 616 alih kode terjadi dalam talk show tersebut. Tipe yang paling sering digunakan dalam alih kode adalah alih kode antarkalimat (62.7%), tipe berikutnya adalah alih kode intrakalimat (36.0%) dan diikuti dengan alih kode pengukuh (1.3%). Hasil menunjukan bahwa ada 511data ditemukan dalam frekwensi alasan alih kode. Alasan yang paling sering digunakan dalam alih kode adalah untuk mengklarifikasi isi pembicaraan (39.1%). Alasan kedua disebabkan karena membicarakan topik tertentu dalam hal kurangnya kecakapan dalam bahasa (23.3%) diikuti oleh alasan untuk menegaskan sesuatu (16.4%). Alasan berikutnya yaitu menceritakan pengalaman (10.2%) diikuti oleh alasan untuk melanjutkan bahasa yang digunakan sebelumnya (9.2%), sedangkan dua urutan terendah yaitu perubahan topik pembicaraan (1.2%) dan alasan mengutip kata-kata (0.6%). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa tipe yang biasa digunakan adalah tipe alih kode antarkalimat dan alasan yang paling sering digunakan adalah untuk mengklarifikasi isi pembicaraan kepada lawan tutur sehingga penyampaian pesan kepada lawan tutur lebih jelas oleh bintang tamu Just Alvin di tahun 2011-2014. This research aims to find the types and the reasons of code-switching that occur in Just Alvin talk show in the years 2011-2014. In particular, it identifies and classifies code-switching according to types and reasons. The data used for this research were video transcripts of bilingual guests of Just Alvin talk show containing code-switching Indonesia-English. Based on the data analysis, 616 code-switching occur in the talk show. The most commonly used type in codeswitching is inter-sentential switching (62.7%), the following type is intra-sentential switching (36.0%) and followed by tag switching (1.3%). Furthermore, the result shows that there are 511 data found in the frequency of code-switching reasons. The most frequently used reason is to clarify the speech content (39.1%). The second place is caused by talking about particular topic in the lack of facility (23.3%) followed by being emphatic about something (16.4%). The following reason is linking to experience (10.2%) followed by continuing the last language used (9.2%) whereas the bottom two are a topic change (1.2%) and quoting words (0.6%). The findings of the research show that inter-sentential switching is commonly used type and to clarify the speech content for the interlocutor is the most frequently used reason by the guests in Just Alvin talk show in order to express and to convey the message more clearly to the other interlocutors in Just Alvin talk show in the years 2011-2014.
