PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN DAUN SEREH (Cymbopogon citratus) SEBAGAI SUMBER MINYAK ESSENSIAL PADA RANSUM TERHADAP KECERNAAN NUTRIEN DALAM RUMEN SECARA IN VITRO

2014 | Skripsi | ILMU DAN INDUSTRI PETERNAKANPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan daun sereh (Cymbopogon citratus) sebagai sumber minyak essensial dalam ransum terhadap populasi mikrobia rumen dan kecernaan nutrien pakan pada fermentasi rumen secara in vitro produksi gas. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah penambahan daun sereh dalam ransum setara dengan konsentrasi minyak essensial 0, 25, 50, 75, dan 100 mg/l medium dalam ransum dengan PK 9,94% dan TDN 88,57%. Masing-masing perlakuan dilakukan 3 kali ulangan. Variabel yang diambil adalah total koloni mikrobia, kecernaan bahan kering (KcBK), kecernaan bahan organik (KcBO), kecernaan protein kasar (KcPK), dan kecernaan serat kasar (KcSK). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis variansi pola searah. Perbedaan variabel karena adanya perbedaan perlakuan ,diuji dengan Duncan’s new multiple range test. Penambahan daun sereh sebagai sumber minyak esensial sebesar 25, 50, 75, dan 100 mg/l menyebabkan penurunan populasi mikrobia sebesar 69,19, 79,29, 86,36, dan 95,96 (P<0,01). Kecernaan protein kasar meningkat (P<0,01) sebesar 17,64% dengan penambahan minyak essensial daun sereh sebesar 25 mg/l. Penambahan minyak essensial daun sereh sebesar 50 mg/l dan 100 mg/l menyebabkan penurunan KcPK (P<0,01) sebesar 2,52 dan 29,65%. Penambahan daun sereh sebagai sumber minyak essensial sebesar 50, 75, dan 100 mg/l menurunkan KcBO sebesar 9,71, 9,14, dan 10,79% dibandingkan dengan kontrol dan penurunan KcBK (P<0,01) sebesar 7,54, 15,90, 14,75, dan 18,12% dengan penambahan minyak essensial daun sereh 25, 50, 75, dan 100 mg/l dalam ransum. Suplementasi minyak essensial dalam ransum tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap KcSK. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa penambahan daun sereh sebagai sumber minyak essensial dapat dilakukan pada level 25 mg/l karena tidak mengubah nilai KcBO dan KcSK. This research was aimed to observe the effect of sereh leaves (Cymbopogon citratus) addition as essential oil (EO) source in diet towards rumen microbes population and ruminal nutrient digestibility in vitro. Essential oil were added 0, 25, 50,75, and 100 mg/l. Substrates for in vitro fermentation contained crude protein 9.94% and total digestible nutrient 88.5%. The treatment’s had 3 replication. Data collected were rumen microbes population, dry matter digestibility (DMD), organic matter digestibility (OMD), crude protein digestibility (CPD), and crude fiber digestibility (CFD). The collected data was analyzed by one way variance analysis. The difference between mean was tested by Duncan’s new Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The result showed the addition of sereh leaves equal to EO level as much as 25, 50, 75, and 100 mg/l decreased rumen microbes population as much as 69.19%, 79.29%, 86.36%, and 95.96% (P<0.01) respectively. Crude protein digestibility increased (P<0.01) as much as 17.64% in fermentation with EO level as much as 25 mg/l. The supplementation of sereh leaves at EO level as much as 50 mg/l and 100 mg/l decreased CPD (P<0.01) i.e. 2.52% and 29,65% respectively. Whereas, the addition of sereh leaves at EO level 50, 75, and 100 mg/l decreased OMD 9.71%, 9,14%, and 10.79% towards the control and decreased DMD (P<0.01) as much as 7.54%, 15.90%, 14.75%, 18.12% with addition of sereh leaves equal to EO level 25, 50, 75, and 100.mg/l in diet. Supplementation EO in diet didn’t affect CFD significantly. From this research, it could be concluded that addition of sereh leaves as source of EO in diet is at level 25 mg/l because it didn’t affect the CFD and OMD.
