TIPOLOGI ARSITEKTUR FASAD ART DECO PADA BANGUNAN-BANGUNAN DI YOGYAKARTA

Art Deco adalah salah satu gaya arsitektur penting yang hadir pada era arsitektur kolonial di Indonesia. Gaya yang lahir di Eropa ini masuk ke Indonesia melalui karya-karya arsitek Belanda yang berpraktek profesional di akhir masa penjajahan Belanda. Sebagai bagian dari gaya yang berkembang di era tahun 20-an, gaya ini berkembang populer di Indonesia dan menjadi salah satu puncak penting dari era arsitektur kolonal. Jejak-jejaknya pada banyak bangunan di kota-kota di Indonesia menunjukkan sangat luasnya gaya ini diterapkan. Kawasan-kawasan lama dan area komersial di pusat kota menyimpan banyak bangunan dengan gaya ini, yang terekspresikan secara gamblang atau samar-samar melalui cuilan elemennya. Hal ini mengisyaratkan adanya kekayaan keragaman tampilan dalam gaya bangunan art deco di Indonesia, termasuk Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap 44 bangunan yang tersebar di seputar kota Yogyakarta. Pengamatan dan analisis dibatasi pada fasad dan elemen visual pada fasad bangunan. Batasan ini dipilih dengan mempertimbangkan banyaknya obyek penelitian yang akan diamati dan beragamnya kadar/intensitas gaya pada bangunan. Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat menjawab pertanyaan; bagaimana tipologi dan karakteristik arsitektur fasad art deco pada bangunan-bangunan yang ada di Yogyakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 3 tipe arsitektur fasad art deco, yaitu 1) tipe fasad utuh, 2) tipe fasad atas, dan 3) tipe fasad bawah. Ketiga tipe tersebut dibedakan berdasarkan perletakan bentuk dan elemen art deco pada fasad bangunan. Disebut sebagai tipe fasad utuh apabila dijumpai bentuk dan elemen art deco pada bidang fasad atas dan bawah. Disebut sebagai tipe fasad atas apabila dijumpai bentuk dan elemen art deco hanya pada bidang fasad atas, dan apabla hanya di jumpai di bidang fasad bawah disebut dengan tipe fasad bawah. Fasad art deco menunjukkan adanya karakter simetris dan asimetris, yang dipilih dan dikuatkan dengan permainan puncak, yang dapat berwujud bentuk menara, bentuk bidang tinggi pada susunan berundak dan perletakan elemen ikonik, yang berupa ornamen atau bentuk tertentu pada fasad datar.

Art Deco is one of important architectural styles are present in the architecture of the colonial era in Indonesia. Style that was born in Europe is entering Indonesia through the works of Dutch architect professional practice at the end of the Dutch colonial period. As part of the style that developed in the era of the 20s, this style is growing in popularity in Indonesia and become one of the important peaks kolonal era architecture. Traces on many buildings in cities in Indonesia showed very breadth of this force is applied. Areas and commercial areas in the old city center store many buildings of this style, which is expressed explicitly or vaguely through its elements. This suggests the existence of a wealth of diversity of views in the art deco style building in Indonesia, including Yogyakarta. This research was conducted on 44 buildings scattered around the city of Yogyakarta. Observation and analysis was limited to the facade and the visual elements on the facade of the building. These limits are chosen by considering the number of research objects that will be observed and various levels / intensity of the forces on the building. This study is expected to answer the question; how the typology and characteristics of art deco architecture facades on buildings in Yogyakarta. The results showed that there are 3 types of facade art deco architecture, 1) the type of facade intact, 2) type of facade above, and 3) the type of facade below. All three types are distinguished by the placement and shape of art deco elements on the facade of the building. Referred to as type facade intact when found shapes and art deco elements on the facade of the upper and lower fields. Referred to as a type of facade above if encountered forms and elements of art deco facade just above the field, and apabla only encountered in the field under the facade of the type referred to under the facade. Art deco facade shows the character of symmetric and asymmetric, are selected and confirmed by the peak of the game, which can be either the form of towers, high field on the order form and placement staircase iconic elements, in the form of ornaments or shape on a flat facade.
