SINTESIS ZnO/MCM-41 SECARA SONOKIMIA UNTUK FOTODEGRADASI ZAT WARNA METILEN BIRU

Sintesis ZnO/MCM-41 secara sonokimia untuk fotodegradasi zat warna metilen biru telah berhasil dilakukan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (i) mengetahui pengaruh waktu sonikasi pada sintesis MCM-41, (ii) mengetahui pengaruh persentase Zn pada sintesis ZnO/MCM-41, serta (iii) mengkaji kemampuan fotokatalitik ZnO/MCM-41 pada proses degradasi zat warna metilen biru. Pada penelitian ini sintesis MCM-41 dilakukan dengan metode sonokimia. Sintesis ZnO/MCM-41 dilakukan secara post synthesis, dikarakterisasi dengan IR, XRD, isoterm adsopsi gas N2, TEM, dan DR-UV, serta diaplikasikan untuk fotodegradasi metilen biru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi optimum sintesis MCM-41 diperoleh pada waktu sonikasi 3 jam dan persentase Zn 36%. ZnO/MCM-41 memiliki luas permukaan dan diameter pori lebih kecil dari MCM-41 yakni sebesar 808,4 m2/g dan 26,5 Ã… sedangkan MCM-41 894,7 m2/g dan 31,42 Ã…. ZnO/MCM-41 memiliki serapan panjang gelombang pada 325 nm dengan nilai energi gap 3,81 eV. Kondisi optimum degradasi metilen biru dengan ZnO/MCM- 41 diperoleh waktu optimum 60 menit dengan maupun tanpa UV, dengan persen degradasi berturut-turut sebesar 72,94 dan 58,46%. Synthesis of ZnO/MCM-41 by sonochemical method for photodegradation of methylene blue dye has been attempted. The aim of the research was (i) to see the effects of sonochemical method on the characteristic of MCM-41, (ii) to find out the effects of Zn percentage on characteristic of ZnO/MCM-41, and (iii) to find out the photocatalytic activity of ZnO/MCM-41 for degradation of methylene blue dye. In this research, MCM-41 was synthesized by sonochemical method while ZnO-MCM-41 was prepared by post synthesis method. All of the products were characterized by IR, XRD, isotherm adsorption desorption N2, TEM, and DR-UV, then applied for photodegradation of methylene blue dye. The result showed that the optimum synthesis of MCM-41 was obtained with sonication time of 3 hours and percentage of Zn 36%. MCM-41 showed higher surface area and pore size than ZnO/MCM-41 that was 894.7 m2/g dan 31.42 Ã… while ZnO/MCM-41 was 808.4 m2/g dan 26.5 Ã…. ZnO/MCM-41 had wavelength absorption at 325 nm with energy gap of 3.81 eV. The optimum condition of methylene blue degradation on as-synthesized ZnO/MCM41 was obtained at optimum time of 60 minutes even with and without UV radiation where the degradation percentage was 72.94 and 58.46%, respectively.
