Skripsi ini berjudul Character Development of Edmund’s Pevensie as Depicted in C.S Lewis Works The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The Chronicles of Narnia adalah novel fantasi klasik untuk anakanak dan di skripsi ini, penulis akan menganalisis Edmund Pevensie, salah satu tokoh di novel yang memiliki hambatan paling berat di bandingkan tokoh-tokoh lainnya dan nantinya akan mengalami perubahan dalam cerita meskipun dia hanya berusia 10 tahun. Analisisnya adalah mengenai plot dari Edmund dengan tujuan untuk menemukan sifat-sifat Edmund di cerita, posisi Edmund dalam plot, dan hubungan Edmund dengan karakter lain yang ada di novel dengan tujuan untuk menemukan permasalahan-permasalahan Edmund yang akan menjadi faktorfaktor tentang perubahannya yang menjadi objektif dalam karya ini. Penulis menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan pendekatan objektif demi mendapatkan ketepatan dalam menganalisis. Hasil analisis ini menunjukan bahwa karakter Edmund mengalami perubahan. Dia berubah dikarenakan mendapatkan pengalaman yang buruk. Dia juga mendapatkan pengarahan dari Aslan yang juga membuat karakternya berubah dan dia bisa membuktikan tentang perubahan yang ada di dirinya ketika ia bersama kakak laki-lakinya, Peter, menghadapi perang pertamanya. Perubahan karakternya yang telah mencapai akhir di saat ia menjadi raja di Narnia. Dia mendapat gelar sebagai Raja keadilan dari penduduk di Narnia karena ia hebat dalam urusan dewan dan perhakiman. Karakter Edmund menjadi contoh yang mudah dan bagus untuk meningkatkan pemahaman anak-anak jikalau ingin disayang oleh banyak orang maka jadilah orang baik di hidup kalian.

This undergraduating thesis is entitled Character Development of Edmund’s Pevensie as Depicted in C.S Lewis Works The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The Chronicles of Narnia is a classical children fantasy novel, and in this thesis the writer analyzes Edmund Pevensie, one of the characters in the novel who had the hardest struggle between the others characters and later develops in the flow of the story although he is a ten-year-old boy. The explanation covers Edmund’s plot in order to find out Edmund’s behaviors in the story and his relationship with the other characters for the purpose of finding out the factors of his character development which become the objective of this work. The writer uses a descriptive analyzing method and objective approach to achieve accuracy in carrying out the analysis. The result of this study indicates that Edmund’s character developed along the story. His characters developed because he had gone through bad experiences. He had also got advice from Aslan that made his characters develop, and he could prove that his character developed when he encountered his first war together with his brother, Peter. His character development reached its end when he became a king in Narnia. He got a title as a King of Just from the people in Narnia because he was good at council and justice matters. Edmund’s character became one of the simplest and best examples to enable children to understand that if they want all people to like you, they should become a good person in your life.
