STUDI PEMANFAATAN HASIL TRACER STUDY UNTUK PENGEMBANGAN KURIKULUM PROGRAM STUDI DI SEKOLAH PASCASARJANA UNIVERSITAS GADJAH MADA

Penelitian ini disusun sebagai upaya problem solving dengan melihat dan menganalisa lebih dalam mengenai bagaimana hasil tracer study dimanfaatkan dalam pengembangan kurikulum program studi (prodi) di Sekolah Pascasarjana Universitas Gadjah Mada. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan subjek penelitian 4 buah Program Studi yang dipilih berdasarkan hasil akreditasi BAN-PT serta ciri keilmuan prodi (sains dan sosial humaniora) dengan perincian 2 prodi dengan nilai akreditasi A, 1 prodi dengan nilai B, dan 1 prodi dengan nilai C. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil tracer study belum secara optimal digunakan sebagai masukan dalam pengembangan kurikulum karena sebagian besar prodi yang diteliti belum melaksanakan tracer study atau telah melaksanakan, tetapi belum melakukan tindak lanjut terhadap hasil yang diperoleh. Tindak lanjut belum dilaksanakan antara lain karena informasi yang diperoleh dari tracer study dengan instrument yang digunakan saat ini belum memberikan informasi yang utuh mengenai alumni, pengalaman pembelajaran di prodi, kompetensi yang diperlukan di dunia kerja serta transisi ke dunia kerja. Informasi yang diperoleh baru sebatas data dasar sebagai database alumni saja. Pengembangan kurikulum di Prodi sebagian besar dilaksanakan dengan masukan dan pertimbangan dari pengelola dan staf pengajar. Sebagai pertanggung jawaban terhadap publik, selain melalui akreditasi, prodi perlu melaksanakan tracer study dan identifikasi sinyal pasar kerja serta menggunakannya sebagai bahan pertimbangan dalam penyusunan program termasuk pengembangan kurikulum.

This study was aimed as a problem solving effort by examining more deeply and analyzing the use of tracer study information in curriculum development process of study programs at the Graduate School, Universitas Gadjah Mada. This study used a qualitative data analysis method with four study programs as object which were determined based on National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) grade as well as scientific characteristic of the programs (science or social and humanities) with the details of 2 programs with the grade of A, 1 program with grade of B, and 1 program with C respectively. The result of the study showed that the information resulted from tracer studies was not been optimally used in curriculum development, because most of the programs did not perform a tracer study or conducted a tracer study but did not follow up the result obtained. The follow up was not been performed, because the results from the tracer study instrument did not cover whole important information of alumni, such as learning experience during study, the competence that alumni needed in the market as well as their transition from the graduation until getting a job. The information of tracer study instrument were only designed as a database for alumni. Curriculum development in the study programs has mostly been conducted by considering the input from the teaching staffs. As public accountability, besides they have been accredited, study programs need to carry out a tracer study and identification of labor market signal and use it as consideration for development of the program as well as curriculum.
