Background : Hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and transplantation are the basis management of advanced kidney disease. There are more than 1.5 million patients with established renal failure who are treated with hemodialysis (Draft,F.,2009.). However chronic kidney disease is an immune-deficient state which makes it possible for them to be infected by hepatitis B and Hepatitis C are possible. Objective: The objective of this research is to know the prevalence of hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg), anti-hepatitis B antibodies (anti-HBs), hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc) among patients undergoing hemodialysis in Hemodialysis Unit Sardjito Hospital,Yogyakarta. Methods: This is a descriptive study using crosssectional method. Results: There were 109(79,56%) subjects with negative HBsAg result and 28(20,44%) with positive HBsAg result. The amount of subjects with positive anti-HBs is higher than negative anti-HBs,which is 93(67,88%) subjects for positive and 44(32,12%) for negative result. There were also more positive result than negative in anti-HBc test;112(81.75%) positive subjects and 25(18,25 %)negative subjects. Conclusion: The prevalence of HBV is higher among males, age group 46-60 years old. Total of 28(20,44%) subjects were positive for HBsAg,93(67,88%) positive for anti-HBs and 112(81,75%) positive for anti-HBc.
