PERSEPSI MAHASISWA KEDOKTERAN TAHUN PERTAMA TERHADAP PERUBAHAN PROSES PEMBELAJARAN SKRIPSI

Latar belakang : Mahasiswa tahun pertama yang terbiasa dengan teacher-centered learning di SMA akan merasakan hal baru di fakultas kedokteran dengan student-centered learning. Proses penyesuaian diperlukan mahasiswa selama transisi metode pembelajaran teacher-centered menjadi student-centered. Proses penyesuaian mahasiswa perlu dilihat sebagai acuan tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran dan menentukan keberhasilan dari mahasiswa tersebut dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran. Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa tahun pertama terhadap perubahan proses pembelajaran dari teacher-centered learning menjadi student-centered learning. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui studi dokumentasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui catatan refleksi 227 mahasiswa dengan menggunakan panduan refleksi Gibbs. Hasil : Mahasiswa merasakan perbedaan metode pembelajaran di SMA dan di FK UGM dalam hal konsep belajar mandiri, tutorial, dan banyaknya materi yang dipelajari. Respon mahasiswa terhadap perbedaan tersebut sangat bervariasi. Pada awal pembelajaran, mahasiswa ditemukan mengalami kesulitan dalam proses penyesuaian dan masih menggunakan cara belajar SMA. Mahasiswa memiliki motivasi dan keinginan yang tinggi untuk mengubah cara belajar mereka dengan berencana meningkatkan keterampilan belajar seperti manajemen waktu, persiapan diri, berusaha lebih keras, dan meningkatkan konsentrasi, kualitas serta kuantitas belajar. Kesimpulan : Perbedaan metode pembelajaran antara teacher-centered dan student-centered, kebiasaan gaya belajar SMA pada mahasiswa, dan kendala yang ditemukan mahasiswa dalam proses penyesuaian mempengaruhi kesiapan mereka dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran. Mahasiswa perlu meningkatkan keterampilan belajar mereka demi kelancaran proses pembelajaran.

Background : First-year medical students who are used to teacher-centered learning in their high school education might find a new things in medical faculty which is student-centered learning. Adjustments were needed by students during transition from the teachercentered learning into student-centered learning. Adjustments of the students are considered as a factor that determines the success of learning objectives and their learning process. Objective : to investigate the perception of first-year medical students about the transition from teachercentered learning into student-centered learning. Method : A qualitative research design was conducted in this study by using document-based study. Data were collected based on reflective writings of 227 medical students using Gibbs‟ reflection. Result : Students found the differences of learning method between high school and medical faculty, especially in self-study, tutorial and a lot of materials which should be learnt. Students‟ response to the differences are varied. They found difficulties on adjustment process in early learning and still used their learning style in high school. Students have high motivation to improve their learning skills and they have plan to enhance their learning skills, especially in time management, self preparation, improving their effort, more focus and enhancing quantity and quality of their study. Conclusion : The difference between teacher-centered and student-centered, habit of students‟ learning style in high school, and problem which is found by students in adjustment process influences students‟ performance during learning process. Students need to improve their learning skills for a better performance during learning process.
