HISTOPATHOLOGICAL PROFILE OF PROSTATE LESIONSIN THE DEPARTMENT OF ANATOMIC ATHOLOGY SARDJITO GENERAL HOSPITAL IN THE YEAR OF 2013

Background: Prostate lesions affect the lives of men and are thought to keep increasing. However, there have been a few epidemiological surveys about prostate lesions in Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta. Therefore it is important to do a research on prostate lesions. Aim: This study was aimed to determine the incidence of specimen collection method used and prostatic lesion diseases in the department of anatomic pathology Sardjito General Hospital by age and type of lesion. Method: The research will be done retrospectively using descriptive method. This research will be done by taking and collecting the data from the answer sheets of the prostate lesions in the department of anatomic pathology. The data that have been collected contains information about age, sampling methods and diagnosis conclusions / opinions, and then calculated the proportion of each factors. Result: The results revealed that the most prostate abnormality that was found was the combination of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and Chronic Prostatitis (54.7%). The oldest average age was combination of BPH, Chronic Prostatitis and Basal Cell Hyperplasia, average age of 86. The youngest average age is the chronic prostatitis, 61 years old. TURP was the most frequently used, 60.16% of total specimen collection method. Biopsy 31.25% and prostatectomy 8.29%. Conclusion: This experiment concludes that Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia is almost in every variable and it has the highest incidence. The oldest average age was combination of BPH, Chronic Prostatitis and Basal Cell Hyperplasia (86 years old). The youngest average age is chronic prostatitis (61 years old).Trans Urethral Resection of the Prostate or TURP, was the most frequent specimen collection method used.
