PRESTASI AKADEMIK MAHASISWA DITINJAU DARI SISTEM JALUR PENERIMAAN MAHASISWA BARU DI UNIVERSITAS GADJAH MADA

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan prestasi akademik yang meliputi Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK) dan masa studi dari jalur Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru (PMB) di Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Penelitian menggunakan sampel sebanyak 607 lulusan UGM angkatan tahun 2007 dan 2008. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik probability sampling dan metode proportionate stratified random sampling. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji homogenitas dan selanjutnya dilakukan analisis variansi menggunakan analisis one way anova dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan's Multiple Range Test. Variabel independen dalam penelitian ini adalah jalur PMB yang dikelompokkan menjadi 3 yaitu jalur Seleksi Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru (SPMB), Ujian Tulis (UTUL), dan Penelusuran Bibit Unggul (PBU), sedangkan variabel dependen yaitu IPK dan masa studi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa IPK mahasiswa UGM jalur SPMB lebih tinggi dibandingkan jalur UTUL dan PBU (p<0,01). Rata-rata IPK mahasiswa UGM jalur SPMB sebesar 3,33; UTUL sebesar 3,32; dan PBU sebesar 3,11. Masa studi mahasiswa jalur PBU lebih cepat dibandingkan jalur SPMB dan UTUL (p<0,05). Rata-rata masa studi mahasiswa jalur PBU sebesar 4,26 tahun; UTUL sebesar 4,40 tahun dan SPMB sebesar 4,36 tahun. IPK dan masa studi dipengaruhi oleh perbedaan jalur PMB.

This study was aimed to know the differences of academic achievements, those were Grade Point Average (GPA) and length of study from Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru (PMB)/ New Student Enrollment schemes in Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Data GPA and length of 607 graduates students, who enrolled in 2007 and 2008 were used in this study. The sample was selected using probability sampling technique and proportionate stratified random sampling method. Data was analyzed by using homogeneity test. Variance analysis was conducted by using one way anova analysis and followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. UGM PMB schemes was used as independent variables which were divided into 3 categories, those were SPMB/ Seleksi Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru (New Students Recruitment) scheme, UTUL/ Ujian Tulis (Written Test) scheme, and PBU/ Penelusuran Bibit Unggul (Search for Excellent Student) scheme, and the dependent variables were GPA and length of study. The result showed that the GPA of students accepted through the SPMB scheme was higher than those accepted through UTUL and PBU (p<0.01). The average of students GPA who was accepted in UGM by SPMB Scheme was 3.33; UTUL 3.32; and PBU 3.11. The length of study of PBU students scheme was shorter than those by SPMB and UTUL (p<0.05). The average of length of study PBU students scheme was 4.26 years; UTUL 4.40 years; and SPMB 4.36 years. The GPA and length of study were influenced by difference of PMB schemes.
