Foundry lab in D3 mechanical engineering UGM especially in the permeability test, the student is very troblesome because permeability test equipment used is quite difficult operation. This final project is the creation of a new permeability test equipment with the operation much easier. Permeablity is ability to permit gases to escape throught sand mould from effect of infusion of liquid metal, which depended on some factor as grain sand form, softness of sand, compression, concentrate water at sand, amount of fastener elements. Sand mould with coarse grain. will have permeability value which is better to be compared with fine grain . But it is not all mould or material, suitable for sand mould with coarse grain. Therefore, people often mix coarse sand with fine sand in other that to reach proper permeability, just when apply sand mould with coarse grain also will influence the result of cast surface. The cast will be more coarse. The new permeability test euipment has been tested with satisfactory result and make it easier for faculty to deliver material and faciliate students to operate it. Sometime used specially fastener like coment which able to denature the mould, also more hardercand permeability, but it is costly. The discision should be taken base on the complexcity shape, quantity and the same material.
