Tinggi wajah anterior dapat dipengaruhi deep overbite. Teknik Begg dapat digunakan untuk perawatan ortodontik maloklusi Angle Klas I dengan deep overbite. Rasio tinggi wajah anterior penting dalam penentuan estetika wajah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan tinggi wajah anterior dan rasio tinggi wajah anterior atas bawah sebelum dan sesudah perawatan ortodontik dengan alat cekat teknik Begg pada kasus deep overbite. Penelitian dilakukan pada 19 pasang sefalogram lateral sebelum dan sesudah perawatan, dengan kriteria maloklusi Angle Klas I, deep overbite, pencabutan empat gigi premolar pertama dari subjek laki-laki dan perempuan dengan rentang usia 18-35 tahun. Data dianalisis dengan paired t-test. Penelitian menunjukkan perubahan tinggi wajah anterior dan rasio tinggi wajah anterior atas dan bawah secara bermakna sesudah perawatan ortodontik dengan teknik Begg (p<0,05). Kesimpulan: terjadi peningkatan tinggi wajah anterior serta penurunan rasio tinggi wajah anterior atas dan bawah sesudah perawatan maloklusi Angle Klas I disertai deep overbite dengan pencabutan empat gigi premolar pertama menggunakan teknik Begg.

Anterior facial height can be influenced by deep overbite. The Begg technique can be used to orthodontic treatment class I Angle malocclusion with deep overbite. Anterior facial height ratio is important in determining the facial aesthetics. The purpose of this study was to determine the changes in anterior facial height and height ratio of the upper and lower anterior face after completion of orthodontic treatment with the Begg technique fixed appliance in deep overbite cases. The study was conducted on 19 pairs of lateral cephalogram before and after orthodontic treatment, with criteria: Class I Angle malocclusion, deep overbite, extraction of four first premolars from male and female subject with an age range of 18-35 years. Data were analyzed using the paired t-test. The results have shown significant changes in anterior facial height and height ratio of the upper and lower anterior face after orthodontic treatment with the Begg technique (p <0.05). Conclusion: an increased in anterior facial height and a decreased in height ratio of the upper and lower anterior facial have occurred after the treatment of class I Angle malocclusion with deep overbite and extraction of the four first premolars using the Begg technique.
