PENGEMBANGAN MEDIUM BIOSTARTER KOMPOS FESES GAJAH DENGAN MEMANFAATKAN BAHAN BAKU LOKAL

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh macam medium biostarter dari bahan baku lokal terhadap kualitas kompos feses gajah. Perlakuan terdiri atas feses gajah dengan penambahan medium biostarter bekatul (T1), medium biostarter nanas (T2), dan medium biostarter bonggol pisang (T3), ketiganya dikomposkan selama 30 hari dengan pembalikan sekali seminggu. Pengukuran pH dan suhu tumpukan dilakukan setiap hari selama pengomposan. Tumpukan umur satu bulan kemudian dilakukan uji fisik meliputi bau, warna, dan tekstur; uji kimia meliputi kadar air, bahan organik, C organik, N total, P total, K total, dan rasio C/N; uji biologis terhadap pertumbuhan sawi; dan uji mikrobiologis dengan total plate count. Data dianalisis variasi acak lengkap pola searah dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan penambahan medium biostarter tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap kadar air T1 58,88, T2 60,95, T3 53,40, bahan organik T1, T2 30,39, T2 34,97, T3 28,25, kadar C organik T1 17,62, T2 20,28, 16,39, N total T1 0,44, T2 0,43, T3 0,51, P total T1 0,20, T2 0,22, T3 0,21, K total T1 0,77, T2 0,80, T3 0,88, rasio C/N T1 39,56, T2 47,24, dan T3 32,81. Hasil uji tanam berupa tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, panjang dan lebar daun, panjang akar, dan berat panen juga tidak memberikan perbedaan yang signifikan. Total koloni mikrobia hasil pengomposan pada T1 9,6 x 104, T2 4,6 x 104, dan T3 4,2 x 104. Karakteristik fisik dan rasio C/N hasil pengomposan belum memenuhi standar SNI 19-7030-2004. Kadar air kompos telah memenuhi standar USDA, kadar bahan organik, C organik, N total, P total, dan K total telah memenuhi standar SNI 19-7030-2004.

This study aimed to determine the effect of medium biostarter for elephant dung compost quality. The treatment consists of elephant dung with the addition of rice bran biostarter medium (T1), pineapple biostarter medium (T2), and banana weevil biostarter medium (T3), they were composted for a month and turned once a week. pH and temperature measured every day during composting. Physical tests performed after 30 days of composting include moisture content, organic matter, C organic, N total, P total, K total, and C/N ratio; biological test on the growth of mustard; and microbiological test with total plate count method. Data were analyzed variations of competely randomized and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test. The result showed that the differences in the addition of medium biostarter had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on water content T1 58,88, T2 60,95, T3 53,40, organic matter T1, T2 30,39, T2 34,97, T3 28,25, C organic T1 17,62, T2 20,28, 16,39, total N T1 0,44, T2 0,43, T3 0,51, total P T1 0,20, T2 0,22, T3 0,21, total K T1 0,77, T2 0,80, T3 0,88, C/N ratio T1 39,56, T2 47,24, and T3 32,81. The biological test of height, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, rroot length, and weight of the harves of mustard was also had no significant effect. Total microbial count on compost were T1 9.6 x 104, T2 4.6 x 104, and T3 4.2 x 104 . Physical characteristics and C/N ratio of the piles were not suitable with standards of SNI 19-7030-2004. The water content of the compost has met USDA standards, organic matter, C organic, total N, total P, and total K has met the standard of SNI 19-7030-2004.
