Gadjah Mada University (UGM) is using a computer network with wireless technology (Wireless Local Area Network / WLAN) to meet the demand for internet services throughout the campus. The wireless network is UGM-Hotspot. UGM-Hotspot is a Captive Portal Wireless Network that uses Chillispot UGM authentication and a login authentication security using UGM’s LDAP available in the PSDI, which is UGM email. UGM-Hotspot is also an official SSID of the AP in the UGM. In application, there are still many issues encountered, such as range capability and the other APs colliding with this channel. This study aims to (1) Determine the location and distribution of wireless network access point UGM-Hotspot, (2) Knowing the location of the blind spot from UGM-Hotspot wireless signal, and (3) Determine the performance of wireless networks UGM- Hotspot in the UGM campus with case at the Administrative Head Office at Gadjah Mada University. This research was conducted in several stages. Stages of the research activities generally consist of preparation and measurement of data, data field processing, and analysis. The study begins with the collection of data in the form of a map of the building and the number of access points that have been installed. Once the data obtained do a site survey to determine the location and distribution of the access point. From the results of the survey, the location of the blind spot of the wireless signal could be determined. Then, a throughput test was carried out on areas that are suspected to be in the blind spot area. Aside from that, tests were carried out in areas that are considered to have adequate and good signal quality. The results showed that: (1) The number of access point wireless network UGM-Hotspot in the Administrative Head Office, Gadjah Mada University as many is as many as 23 access points spread over three floors of the building; 6 access points on the 1 st floor, 7 access points on the 2 nd floor, and 10 access points on the 3 rd floor. (2) At some point in the study area, the signal received from UGM-Hotspot wireless network is not adequate. (3) Performance of wireless network UGM-Hotspot in the Administrative Head Office is not enough to meet needs that exist due to the existence of areas that have not obtained the Internet service provided by wireless network UGM-Hotspot.
