PESIMISME DALAM NOVEL “NOTRE CŒUR” KARYA GUY DE MAUPASSANT SEBUAH TINJAUAN STRUKTURAL-SEMIOTIK

Novel yang digunakan sebagai bahan penelitian merupakan novel terakhir Guy de Maupassant yang berjudul Notre Coeur. Novel tersebut bercerita mengenai percintaan antara Mariolle dan Mme de Burne. Novel ini banyak menceritakan mengenai ungkapan perasaan dan emosi cinta baik dari tokoh utama maupun tokoh tambahan. Emosi dan ungkapan perasaan dalam novel tersebut mengindikasikan rasa pesimisme. Analisis pertama dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis struktural. Analisis ini digunakan sebagai analisis dasar yang melihat hubungan pesimisme dengan struktur novel. Setelah melihat struktur novel, proses selanjutnya adalah melihat pesimisme melalui semiotika. Teori semiotika yang digunakan adalah teori semiotika Pierce. Teori semiotika digunakan untuk memberi jenis tanda dan hubungannya dengan pesimisme. Setelah proses penandaan, analisis selanjutnya adalah peran pesimisme yang muncul dalam novel. Hasil analisis novel ini berupa penjabaran struktur, pengkategorian simbol, indeks, dan ikon menurut semiotika Pierce, dan peran pesimisme yang terlihat dalam cerita.

The novel that is being used as the object of the research is the last novel of Guy de Maupassant entitled Notre Coeur. That novel is about romantic relationship between Mariolle and Mrs. de Burne. It tells about emotional expressions and romantic feeling of the main character and minor character. Emotion and feeling expression in that novel indicate a pessimism. The first analysis in this research is structural analysis. This analysis is used as the basis analysis to see the relation between pessimism and the structure of the novel. After analyzing the novel's structure, the next step is to see pessimism through semiotic. Semiotic theory that is used is the semiotic theory of Pierce. Semiotic theory is being used to identify the type of sign and its relation with pessimism. After sign process, the next analysis is the role of pessimism that appears in novel. The result of novel's analysis is in the form of structure's elaboration, categorization of symbol, index, and icon based on Pierce's semiotic, and the role of pessimism in the story.
