PENGARUH PASANG SURUT BUMI TERHADAP GEMPABUMI MENTAWAI 25 OKTOBER 2010 MW 7,8

Kepulauan Mentawai merupakan salah satu kabupaten di provinsi Sumatera Barat yang berada dekat dengan subduksi lempeng tektonik. Dengan kondisi letak tersebut maka sangat rawan terjadi gempabumi. Salah satu gempabumi yang terjadi adalah gempabumi pada tanggal 25 Oktober 2010 pada pukul 21:42:59 WIB dengan Mw 7,8 dan kedalaman 12 Km berada pada posisi 99,32° BT - 3,71° LS (CMT Catalog). Gempabumi tersebut menjadi gempabumi utama dalam penelitian ini. Data gempabumi pada penelitian ini didapatkan dari Harvard Centroid Moment Tensor (CMT Catalog) yang merupakan database gempabumi global. Data yang digunakan adalah data gempabumi yang berada diarea 0° LU - -8° LS dan 95° BT – 105° BT dari tanggal 1 Januari 1977 – 31 Desember 2012, dengan gempabumi utama adalah gempabumi Mentawai pada pada tanggal 25 Oktober 2010 pada pukul 21:42:59 WIB pada posisi 99,32° BT - 3,71° LS (CMT Catalog). Pemrosesan data dilakukan dengan menghitung nilai sudut fase dari masingmasing event gempa kemudian dilakukan tes statistik Schuster dengan rentang waktu untuk tiap nilai 𝑝 5 tahun dengan pergeseran waktu 2 tahun. Berdasarkan hasil, hanya komponen normal stress yang menunjukan korelasi positif dari segi sudut fase dan nilai 𝑝 walaupun tidak secara keseluruhan. Komponen shear stress hanya menunjukan korelasi positif untuk nilai 𝑝. Kesimpulan dari hasil tersebut adalah gempabumi Mentawai 2010 Mw 7,8 dapat dikatakan dipicu oleh pasang surut jika menggunakan komponen normal stress.

Mentawai island is a regency in West Sumatra, Indonesia. It is located near to tectonic plate subduction, therefore it makes the island very prone to earthquake. 12 km deep and 7.8 magnitude earthquake at 21:42:59 (GMT+7), Oct 25, 2010 was one of the major earthquakes that ever hit this island. It occurred at 99,32° Longitude - 3,71° Latitude (CMT Catalog). Those earthquake is the major earthquake for this research. The Datas in this research were obtained from Harvard Centroid Moment Tensor (CMT Catalog), global earthquake center. Earthquake data in surrounding area 0°- 8° latitudes and 95° - 105° longitudes were collected from Januari 1 st , 1977 to December 31 th , 2012 with Mentawai earthquakes is a major earthquake on the date of October 25 th , 2010 at 21:42:59 (GMT+7), at positions of 99.32° Longitude - 3.71° Latitude (CMT Catalog). The datas were proced to calculate phase angle for each event of earthquake and then Schuster statistical test was perfomed every 5 years with 2 years shift time. Based on the result, only normal stress component that showed positive correlation on phase angle and p value. Shear stress component just showed positive correlation to 𝑝 value. It can be concluded that 2010 Mentawai earthquake with Mw 7.8 was triggered by the tide if normal stress component was used.
