Negasi Ganda sebagai Salah Satu Karakteristik dari Bahasa Inggris yang Digunakan Huckleberry Finn di dalam novel Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Skripsi ini meneliti tentang negasi ganda sebagai Salah Satu Karakteristik dari Bahasa Inggris yang digunakan Huckleberry Finn di dalam novel Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Tujuan dari penulisan skripsi ini adalah untuk mengambil pola dari kalimat-kalimat negatif yang di dalamnya terdapat negasi ganda dalam bahasa Inggris yang digunakan Huckleberry Finn dan mendeskripsikan hal-hal yang membuat kalimat-kalimat tersebut berbeda dengan bahasa Inggris standar orang Amerika. Bab I sampai XX yang merupakan sumber data mempunyai 114 kalimat yang pada strukturnya terdapat negasi ganda yang mempunyai karakteristik bahasa Inggris vernakular orang Afrika-Amerika. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat 21 pola kalimat negative yang terdiri dari 3 pola dalam present progressive tense, 6 pola dalam simple past tense, 7 pola dalam simple present tense, 1 pola dalam simple future tense, 2 pola dalam past perfect tense, 1 pola baik dalam past perfect progressive tense dan perfect present tense. Lebih lanjut lagi, terdapat 3 hal yang membuat data skripsi berbeda dengan bahasa Inggris standar orang Amerika yaitu penggunaan to be negatif, penggunaan n-word no daripada any, dan penggunaan past participle daripada simple form di simple present tense.

This research attempts to find out double negatives as one characteristic of Huckleberry Finn’s English as seen in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The aims of this research are to identify the pattern of negative constructions which has double negatives in Huckleberry Finn’s English in its structure and describe the characteristics that make the sentence different from Standard American English. The data source which are the chapter I until XX of the novel has 114 sentences which has double negatives in Huckleberry Finn’s English characteristics in its structure. The result of this research shows that there are 21 patterns of negative constructions which consists of 3 patterns in present progressive tense, 6 patterns in simple past tense, 7 patterns in simple present tense, 1 pattern in simple future tense, 2 patterns in past perfect tense, 1 pattern in both of past perfect progressive tense and perfect present tense. Furthermore, there are 3 characteristics that make the data different from Standard American English which are the use of negative to be, the use of n-word no instead of using any,and the use of past participle instead of simple form in the negative sentence of simple present tense.
