Kelimpahan Semut Rangrang (Oecophylla) pada Beberapa Tegakan di Wanagama I, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta

2013 | Tesis | S2 Ilmu KehutananPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui preferensi inang; dinamika populasi; dan biologi (aktifitas pengangkutan makan serta komposisi semut rangrang dan artropoda lain dalam sarang) semut rangrang pada beberapa tegakan di Wanagama I. Penelitian dilakukan di Wanagama I pada tegakan Acacia mangium, Tectona grandis, Switenia macrophylla, Eucalyptus pelita dan Gmelina arborea. Pengambilan data satu bulan sekali (Maret-Juni 2013). Metode pengambilan data menggunakan bait trap; pengamatan aktivitas pengangkutan makanan semut rangrang: pagi, siang dan sore; pengamatan kelimpahan sarang, komposisi rangrang dan artropoda lain di dalam sarang rangrang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, rangrang ditemukan pada tegakan Akasia dan Eukaliptus. Populasi rangrang semakin tinggi seiring bertambah tingginya curah hujan dan kelimpahan sumber pakan. Aktifitas pengangkutan makanan paling tinggi saat pagi hari; komposisi artropoda lain dalam sarang rangrang adalah Isoptera, Homoptera, Lepidoptera, Diptera, Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Ortoptera, Hymenoptera, Acarina dan Araneae; pada sarang ditemukan rangrang dalam fase imago (kasta pekerja mayor dan minor), larva, dan pupa.
This study was conducted to determine preference of host; population dynamics; and biology of weaver ants (food transport activity and composition of waever ants also other Arthropod in the nest) in several stands in Wanagama I. This study was conducted in the Wanagama I: Acacia mangium, Tectona grandis, Switenia macrophylla, Eucalyptus pellita and Gmelina arborea stands. Data were taken once a month from March to June 2013. The data collection method used bait trap; monitoring of food transport activity of weaver ants: in the morning, at the noon, and in the afternoon; monitoring of nest abundance, composition of weaver ants and other Arthropod in the nest of weaver ants. The result showed that the weaver ants were found in the Acacia and Eucalyptus stands. The population of weaver ants was increasing as the increase of rainfall and food abundance. The highest food transport activity was in the morning. The composition of other Arthropod in the nest of weaver ants were: Isoptera, Homoptera, Lepidoptera, Diptera, Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Orthoptera, Hymenoptera, Acarina, and Araneae; in the nest was found weaver ants in imago (caste of major and minor worker ants), larva, and pupa phase.
