PERAN KECERDASAN EMOSI DAN HARGA DIRI SEBAGAI PREDIKTOR OPTIMUM AGING PADA PENSIUNAN

One of the most important moment in life, especially for the older employees, is retirement. The elderly need to adjust themselves to their retirement condition. The successful adjustment will lead them to their positive or successful self-image that usually called as optimum aging. Optimum aging is a self-adjustment process of the elderly against the aging process, condition, and alterations within the aging process such as retirement from their job, left by their beloved person, decline of physical function and also decline in psychological function. There are two factors that affect optimum aging, the internal and external factor. This research aim to know the role of internal factor, including emotional intelligence and self-esteem, as the predictor of optimum aging of the pensions. The result taken from 100 respondents with the age about 56 to 77 years old shows that emotional intelligence and self-esteem is a strong predictor of optimum aging for the retired employees. The simultaneous test result shows that R2 is 0,563. Both emotional intelligence and self-esteem contribute about 56,3% against optimum aging. The partial test shows that emotional intelligence has significant positive relation to the optimum aging that showed with the signification value 0,000 (p<0,01). The effective contribution of emotional intelligence against optimum aging is 40,8%. Self-esteem also has a significant positive relation to the optimum aging that showed with the significances value 0,004 (p<0,01). The effective contribution of self-esteem against optimum aging is 15,5%.
