KATA MAJEMUK BAHASA INGGRIS DALAM BIDANG TEKNOLOGI

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai bentuk penulisan, formasi elemen pembentuk dan hubungan makna elemen pembentuk kata majemuk dalam bahasa Inggris dalam bidang teknologi. Pentingnya teknologi untuk mendukung kehidupan manusia menyebabkan semakin pesatnya kemajuan teknologi. Hal ini menyebabkan munculnya kata-kata baru untuk menamai ciptaan berupa barang maupun sistem yang berhubungan dengan teknologi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan mengguankan data tertulis dan sumber data diambil dari laman pustaka www.buzzle.com. Sedangkan metode yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data ialah metode agih. Hasil penelitian akan disajikan dengan metode formal dan informal. Pada permasalahan pertama ditemukan tiga macam bentuk penulisan kata majemuk yaitu tertutup (solid) terbuka (open) dan menggunakan tanda penghubung. Selain itu ditemukan bentuk penulisan lain yaitu dengan cara abreviasi. Dalam bentuk penulisan abreviasi kata majemuk dapat dikelompokkan lagi menjadi penyingkatan, penggabungan, akronimi dan simbol. Permasalahan kedua menghasilkan empat jenis elemen pembentuk kata majemuk dengan formasi masing-masing. Elemen pembentuk ka ta majemuk yang pertama ialah akar dasar kata dan dapat ditemukan pada KMN, KMA dan KMV. Formasi kata majemuk yang kedua terbentuk oleh elemen yang mengalami proses derivasi dan dapat ditemukan pada KMN dan KMA. Formasi kata majemuk yang ketiga terbentuk oleh elemen yang mengalami proses afiksasi yang berupa prefiks dan sufiks. Permasalahan ketiga mengidentifikasi hubungan makna kata majemuk yaitu endosentris dan eksosentris. Kata majemuk endosentris memiliki inti kata dan biasanya terletak di sebelah kanan (right hand-headed). Kata majemuk endosentris mendominasi kata majemuk bahasa Inggris yang berhubungan dengan bidang teknologi. Pada KMN terdapat sembilan macam hubungan makna endosentris sedangkan pada KMA terdapat tiga macam hubungan makna. Sebaliknya, kata majemuk eksosentris tidak memiliki inti kata dan makna elemen pembentuknya tidak termasuk dalam makna kata majemuk bentukannya. Hubungan makna kata majemuk eksosentris ditemukan pada KMN dan KMV. Kata majemuk apositif juga ditemukan dan memiliki hubungan makna koordinatif. Penelitian ini menghasilkan temuan baru yakni penulisan kata majemuk dalam bentuk abreviasi, penulisan kata majemuk yang berbeda dikarenakan adanya perbedaan pendapat editor kamus dan hubungan makna yang bervariasi. Akan tetapi kendala dalam penelitian ini berupa pemahaman persepsi yang berbeda dengan penutur bahasa aslinya. Sehingga mempengarui analisis hubungan makna pada kata majemuk yang berhubungan dengan teknologi.

This reserch discuses the writing form, formatting and meaning relation of English compound words in the fie ld of technology. The important of technology in supporting human being lead to the rap id development of technology. It causes the appearence of new words to named the creation in the form of things and systems relate to technology. This research is descriptive qualitative research by using written data. The source of the data is taken from www.buzzle.com. Distributional methode is used to analyze the data and the finding will be shown in formal and informal method. The first result was found in three forms of writing, namely closed (solid), open and using hyphen (-). It was also found another form of writing that is abbreviation. Compound in the form of abbreviation can be further grouped into cutting, blending, acronym and symbols. The second result produces four types of elemens forming compounds. Firstly, the elements forming the compound words is basic root word and can be found on noun compound, adjective compound and verb compound. Secondly, compound words formed by elements that undergo a proces of derivation and can be found in noun compound and adjektive compound. Thirdly, compound words were formed by elements that undergo a process of affixation in the form of prefix and suffix. The third result identify the relation of the elemen forming compound words which can be classified into endosentric and exocentric. Endocentric compound words have a core word and usually located on the right or right hand-headed. Endocentric compound words dominate the English compound words relate to technology. In noun compound there are eleven kinds of meaning relation while in adjective there are three of meaning relation. In contrast, exocentric compounds do not have a core word and the meaning of elements which are forming the compound is not included in the meaning of compound words. The relation meaning of exocentric compound can be found in noun compoun and verb compound. The copulative compound are found, it has coordinative meaning relation.This reserach shows new finding, those are the writing of compound in abbreviation, the different writing of compound which coused by the different opinion among dictionary editors and the variation of meaning relation. On the other hand, the obstacle in this research is that the different perception with the English speaker. So that it influences the analisys of relation meaning on compound words relate to technology.
