Dalam pembuatan muffler ada beberapa proses yang dilalui, salah satunya adalah proses bending. Pada proses bending ini, pipa harus dalam keadaan pejal untuk mengantisipasi terjadinya cacat yang berupa gepeng dan kerutan pada area yang di-bending. Maka dari itu, sebelum pipa di-bending, pipa harus diisi dengan lilin yang telah dicairkan. Dalam pembuatan muffler dengan tipe baru (K18A), material lilin diganti dengan pasir (pasir baja). Itu karena ketika menggunakan pasir sebagai material pengisinya, kualitas hasil bending-nya lebih baik daripada menggunakan lilin. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan suatu alat untuk proses pengisian dan pemadatan pasir. tujuannya adalah untuk memudahkan operator dalam memadatkan pasir di mana sebelumnya pemadatan dilakukan secara manual dengan menghentak-hentakkan pipa ke lantai yang berpotensi menimbulkan cacat, dan juga untuk mengurangi cycle time. Alat ini dibuat menggunakan metode getaran. Getaran dihasilkan oleh motor listrik yang memutar beban di mana beban tersebut telah dirancang khusus untuk menimbulkan getaran. Lalu, getaran diteruskan ke seluruh body mesin. Alat ini telah berfungsi dengan baik dan sekarang telah digunakan untuk proses produksi di PT YMI. Diharapkan dengan alat ini, operator akan lebih efektif dalam bekerja dan kapasitas produksi dapat ditingkatkan

In the production of muffler, while bending process is being to do, pipes must in solid condition. If pipes isn’t in solid condition, there are defect will be appear on bending area like dented and wrinkle. Therefore, before pipes bended, pipes must be filled by wax which molten before. In the production of muffler with new type (K18A), the molten wax would be changed with sand. It’s because when pipes use the sand as filler material, the quality of products are better than use molten wax. The use of sand as filler material of exhaust pipes for new type (K18A) need a supporting tool to compacting sand. The purpose of this tool is to facilitate the operators in compacting sands where previously this employment is done manually by shake and jolt the pipes so may cause the damage, and also to decrease the cycle time. This tool is made by using vibration method. Vibration generated by the electric motor that rotates the load where the load has been designed specifically to generate vibrations. Then, vibration transmitted to the whole body of the machine. This tool has been functioning well and is now used for the production process at PT YMI. Expected with this tool, operator will be more effective at work and the production procces can be improved.
