PERSEPSI DAN PARTISIPASI MASYARAKAT DALAM KONSERVASI PENYU DI PANTAI SAMAS KABUPATEN BANTUL DAN PANTAI TRISIK KABUPATEN KULON PROGO

Kesadaran dan partisipasi masyarakat dalam konservasi penyu dipengaruhi pengetahuan dan persepsi masyarakat tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan, persepsi, dan partisipasi masyarakat dalam konservasi penyu di Pantai Samas, Kabupaten Bantul dan Pantai Trisik, Kabupaten Kulon Progo. Responden sebanyak 60 orang yang terdiri dari 30 responden di Pantai Samas Kabupaten Bantul dan 30 responden di Pantai Trisik Kabupaten Kulon Progo diambil dengan teknik simple random sampling dan diwawancara dengan kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata responden memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang baik/tinggi, yang ditunjukkan respon positif yang diberikan atas beberapa pernyataan terkait manfaat penyu. Faktor yang mempengaruhi tingkat pengetahuan tersebut antara lain: tingkat pendidikan akhir, jenis pekerjaan dan tingkat pendapatan. Tingkat pengetahuan yang baik/tinggi juga mempengaruhi persepsi responden yang baik/tinggi terkait konservasi penyu. Penelitian juga mengidentifikasi bahwa terdapat 4 bentuk partisipasi responden yaitu; partisipasi ide, partispasi tenaga, partisipasi manfaat, dan partisipasi evaluasi. Terdapat kecenderungan bahwa rata-rata tingkat partisipasi responden memberikan hasil yang kurang baik, namun responden memiliki harapan yang tinggi terkait pentingnya upaya konservasi penyu.

Community awareness and participation in sea turtles conservation were affected by knowledge and perception of the community. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge, perception, and participation of community on the conservation of sea turtle s in Samas Beach, Bantul Regency and Trisik Beach, Kulon Progo Regency. There were 60 respondents consisting of 30 respondents in Samas Beach Bantul Regency and 30 respondents in Trisik Beach Kulon Progo Regency were selected using simple random sampling technique and interviewed with questionnaires. The results showed that the average respondents have high knowledge level, and by the positive response given on statements about the benefits of sea turtles. The factors influence the level of knowledge nemely; final educational level, occupation, and income level. High level knowledge affected to the respondents perception about the sea turtles conservation. The study also identified that there are four forms of respondent participation namely; ideas participation, working participation, benefits participation, and evaluation participation. The study indicated that the average participation among respondents were low, however the respondents had high expectation related to the importants of the sea turtles conservation efforts.
