KUALITAS EJAKULAT BULL LIMOUSIN DAN FRIES HOLSTEIN(FH) SELAMA TAHUN 2012 DI BALAI INSEMINASI BUATAN LEMBANG

Ketersediaan daging sapi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan protein hewani bagi masyarakat merupakan hal penting yang harus diperhatikan. Salah satu cara perkembangbiakan yang baik adalah melalui sistem perkawinan yang efektif dan efesien. Hal tesebut dapat dicapai dengan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi sistem perkawinan ternak secara buatan melalui teknologi inseminasi buatan (IB). Salah satu faktor penentu keberhasilan IB tergantung pada kualitas dan kuantitas semen. Tujuan penulisan tugas akhir ini untuk mengetahui dan memperdalam pengetahuan tentang kualitas ejakulat serta mengetahui perbedaan kualitas ejakulat dari masing-masing bull yang berada di Balai Inseminasi Buatan (BIB) Lembang. Materi untuk penulisan Tugas Akhir ini adalah kegiatan Praktek Kerja Lapangan di Balai Inseminasi Buatan Lembang dan kualitas ejakulat bull limousin dan FH selama tahun 2012. Sampel yang diamati untuk penyusunan Tugas Akhir ini sebanyak lima ekor bull FH dan lima ekor bull limousin. Alat yang digunakan untuk mengoleksi semen adalah vagina buatan beserta inner liner, tabung sperma, corong Artifical Vagina (AV), pelindung tabung sperma, stick glass, plastik pelindung, tali pengikat dan vaselin. Metode yang digunakan dengan pengumpulan data, observasi dan Praktek Kerja Lapangan (PKL). Volume dan konsentrasi bull FH dan limousin tinggi pada awal tahun 2012 bulan Januari, Februari dan Maret. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan kualitas ejakulat pada masing-masing bull berbeda-beda, kualitas ejakulat bull FH dan limousin dipengaruhi oleh faktor penyediaan makanan ternak dan makanan tambahan, perawatan kesehatan ternak, perawatan kandang dan sanitasi, perlakuan exercise, persiapan vagina buatan, dan penampungan semen.

The methods used by data collection, observation and practice of field work. The Volume and concentration of the FH and limousin bull at the beginning of 2011 January, February and March. Based on the results of observation quality ejakulat in each bull, quality limousin bull ejakulat FH and influenced by the provision of additional food and forage, livestock health care, nursing home and sanitation, treatment of vaginal artificial exercise, preparation, and storage of cement.
