HUBUNGAN BODY CONDITION SCORE (BCS) TERHADAP PERFORMA REPRODUKSI SAPI POTONG BETINA

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan Body Condition Score (BCS) terhadap performa reproduksi sapi betina. Penilaian performa reproduksi yang dilakukan meliputi usia pubertas, Calving Interval (CI), Estrus Post Partus (EPP), lama siklus estrus, dan Servis Per Conception (S/C). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuosioner kepada pemilik sapi yang berisi pertanyaan tentang performa reproduksi sapi dan pengamatan BCS dengan melihat langsung. Sampel yang digunakan adalah 2 ekor sapi potong BCS 1, 10 ekor sapi BCS 2, dan 10 ekor sapi BCS 3. Penentuan BCS dilakukan dengan cara mengamati bagian hook, pin, tailhead, dan rusuk sapi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sapi dengan BCS 2 dan BCS 3 memiliki performa reproduksi yang baik sesuai dengan standar normal, sedangkan sapi dengan BCS 1 memiliki performa reproduksi yang lebih rendah jika dibandingkan standar normal. Dari hasil penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa BCS berpengaruh terhadap performa reproduksi sapi.

Body Condition Score (BCS) is a method to evaluate the body condition of cows according to its nutrition. This research was organized in order to identify the relationship of Body Condition Score (BCS) on the reproduction performance of the cow in which the evaluation of the reproduction performance including puberty, Calving Interval (CI), Estrus Post Partus (EPP), period of estrus cycle, and the Service per Conception (S/C). Questionnaire method which covered questions about the evaluation of reproductive performance of the cow, and interview to the farmer or a owner, and 2 cows with BCS 1, 10 cows with BCS 2, and 10 cows with BCS 3 were used in this research. The determination of BCS have done by observing the hook, pin, tailhead, and the rib of the cows. The result showed that cows on BCS 2 and BCS 3 have a reproduction performance normal as reported, but cows on BCS 1 had lower reproduction performance. It’s concluded based on this research, BCS have a relationship on the reproduction performance of beef cattle.
