PERAN PEOPLE TO PEOPLE DIPLOMACY DALAM HUBUNGAN DIPLOMATIK INDONESIA-MESIR; Menelisik Fungsi Soft Power dalam Hubungan Kedua Negara (1998-2011)

Kedekatan hubungan antara negara Indonesia dengan Mesir adalah pembahasan utama penelitian ini. Yang membedakan penelitian ini dengan penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya adalah objek penelitian, yang lebih fokus kepada peran serta aktor-aktor non-pemerintah (second track diplomacy) dibandingkan peran pemerintah. Pembahasan dalam penelitian ini bertumpu pada dua pertanyaan utama yaitu bagaimana peran serta aktor-aktor non pemerintah dalam hubungan diplomatik Indonesia-Mesir dan faktor-faktor apakah yang mendorong dan menghambat peran serta tersebut. Untuk menjawab pertanyaan tersebut peneliti akan menggunakan teori konstruktivisme sebagai kacamata dalam melihat fenomena di atas, yang diperkuat aplikasi teori soft power dan multi-track diplomacy. Penelitian ini menemukan fakta terkait signifikasi peran serta aktor-aktor non pemerintah dalam menopang hubungan diplomatik kedua Negara. Tesis ini disusun sebagai persyaratan untuk meraih gelar Master Program Pasca Sarjana Hubungan Internasional di Universitas Gadjah Mada. Tujuan utama pembahasan tesis ini untuk memberikan informasi baru terkait hubungan antar negara, terkhusus hubungan antara negara Indonesia dengan negara Mesir. Untuk selanjutnya diharapkan pembaca bisa melihat hubungan antar negara yang lebih kompleks dan menyeluruh.

The intimacy between Indonesia and Egypt is the main topic for this research, but this research is more focused on the role of non-government relationship (second track diplomacy). The discussion on this research is based on two main questions: that is, how is the role of the non governmental people in the Egypt-Indonesia diplomatic relation and what factors encourages and discourages those roles. To answer those questions the reasercher will use the theory of constructivism as a prespective to see the phenomena that will backed by the theory of soft power and multy-track diplomacy. This reaserch concludes that the non-government people play an important role in the relationship the two nations. This thesis is compiled as one of the requirements to obtain a post-graduate of international relationship in the Universitas Gadjah Mada.The main purpose of this thesis‟ discussion is to give new informations regarding international relationship, especially the relationship between Indonesia and Egypt. Hopefully the reader may view international relationship with more complexity and insights in the future.
