RASISME DALAM “THE WEEKEDNERS” KARYA SHEILA ROBERTS ANALISIS STRUKTURALISME GENETIK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti 1. Bagaimana struktur dalam cerita The Weekenders, 2. Bagaiaman pandangan dunia dalam The Weekenders, dan 3. Bagaimana hubungan antara struktur dan pandangan dunia dalam The Weekenders. Menggunakan teori Lucien Goldmann strukturalisme genetik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dan dialektik dimana dalam memahamai keseluruhan struktur yang membangun TW secara bolak balik untuk memahami pandangan dunia yang diekspresikan oleh Sheila Roberts lewat novel The Weekendres. Novel The Weekenders sendiri bercerita tentang sebuah fakta dan sejarah yang dialami oleh masyarakat Afrika Selatan yang hidup pada zaman rasisme dan juga struktur sosial apartheid, yang memisahkan anatar ras hitam dan putih dan pengkastaan serta diskriminasi dalam segala bentuk kehidupan sosial, ekonomi, politik pendidikan dan sebagainya. Dengan menggunakan teori strukturalisme genetic Lucien Goldmann, penelitian ini mengungkapkan pandangan dunia rasisme yang diekspresikan oleh pengarangnya serta apartheid sebagai system sosial yang menguatkan akan adanya paham rasisme dalam TW tersebut, dan menimbulkan pemisahan dan diskriminasi bagi ras kulit hitam dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan seperti sosial, ekonomi, politik, dan pendidikan yang dinampakkan dalam cerita TW ini. Rasisme dan apartheid tidak begitu saja muncul, melainkan tercipta dari sejarah yang panjang. Setelah melakukan analisis terhadap novel TW karya Sheila Roberts, maka ditemukan beberapa relasi dalam novel, diantaranya relasi antara Tuhan dan Mnausia, Manusia dan Mnausia, serta manusia dan dunia, dimana relasi relasi tersebut tersekta oleh dinding rasime, adanya legitimasi rasisme, oleh Tuhan, dan manusia yang juga memberikan ruang rasisme tersebut, begitu pula dalam pandangan dunia SR, pandangan dunia rasisme.

This research aimed at investigating 1). The structure in the novel of The Weekenders, 2). The world view in The Weekenders, and 3). The relationship between the world view and the structure in The Weekenders, using the method applied by Lucien Goldmann structuralism genetic. The method applied in this research were qualitative and dialectic in comprehending the whole structure in the novel of The Weekenders, as well to comprehend the world view of Sheila Roberts in her novel. The novel itself talked about the live of the people in South Africa who sought for freedom of racism and the life under apartheid regime, which segregate and lived based on racial believe, and all believe about racism like social, politic, economy, education, and many more. By applying the method of Lucien Goldmann, structuralism genetic, in investigating the world view expressed by the author, about the racism and the apartheid which implemented as the social system which bring the believe of racism stronger in the story of The Weekenders, and caused the segregation and discrimination in all aspects of life such as social, politic, economy, and education. Both racism and apartheid appeared from a long history. The result of the analysis shown that the relationship in the novel like God and the man, the man and the man, and the man and the world, which lively life under the racism and separatism, and legitimating to each other about the racism itself, as well the world view which express and implemented as well legitimated the racism alive in the novel of The Weekenders by Sheila Roberts.
