Usahatani merupakan suatu usaha bagaimana seseorang mengalokasikan sumberdaya yang ada secara efektif dan efisien untuk tujuan memperoleh keuntungan yang tinggi pada waktu tertentu. Usahatani yang efektif adalah petani atau produsen dapat mengalokasikan sumberdaya yang mereka miliki sebaik-baiknya dan efisien bila pemanfaatan sumberdaya tersebut menghasilkan keluaran atau output yang melebihi masukan atau input. Pengertian efisiensi sangat relatif, efisiensi diartikan sebagai penggunaan input sekecil-kecilnya untuk mendapatkan produksi yang sebesar-besarnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengetahui kerakteristik sosial ekonomi petani kakao di Desa Wiyono (2) untuk mengetahui faktor yang paling berpengaruh terhadap besarnya tingkat pendapatan petani dari hasil usahatani kakao di Desa Wiyono, dan (3) untuk mengetahui besarnya sumbangan pendapatan usahatani kakao terhadap pendapatan total rumah tangga petani kakao di Desa Wiyono. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survei yang mengambil lokasi di Desa Wiyono Kecamatan Gedong Tataan Kabupaten Pesawaran Lampung dengan melakukan observasi dan wawancara terstruktur. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji statistik berupa metode uji regresi berganda dan tabel frekuensi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa kondisi fisik lahan di daerah penelitian yang berkaitan dengan usahatani kakao yaitu kondisi iklim, topografi dan tanah sesuai dengan syarat tumbuh tanaman kakao dan kondisi non fisik yang berkaitan terhadap usahatani kakao di daerah penelitian adalah modal, tenaga kerja, pemasaran, pengelolaan usahatani kakao serta produktivitas usahatani kakao. Pendapatan yang berasal dari usahatani kakao memberikan kontribusi yang besar terhadap pendapatan total rumah tangga petani yaitu sebesar 91,7%. Dari hasil uji regresi berganda yang dilakukan pada faktor produksi usahatani kakao terhadap pendapatan bersih usahatani kakao menunjukan bahwa faktor upah tenaga kerja merupakan faktor yang paling banyak mengurangi pendapatan yang diperoleh petani, sedangkan luas lahan kakao merupakan faktor yang paling banyak meningkatkan pendapatan yang diperoleh petani.

Understanding efficiency is relative, input use efficiency is defined as the smallest to get maximum production. The purpose of this study are (1) to determine the socio-economic kerakteristik cocoa farmers in the village of Wiyono (2) to determine the factors that most influence on the level of income from the farming of cocoa farmers in the village Wiyono, and (3) to determine the magnitude of the contribution of farm income cocoa to the total household income of cocoa farmers in the village of Wiyono The basic method applied in this research is a survey method which takes the case in Wiyono village in sub district of Gedong Tataan, Pesawaran regency. The researcher by observation and structured interviews. Analysis techniques used statistical test methods is double regression analysis and the frequency tables. Based on the results of research carried out shows that the physical condition of the land in the area of research related to the cocoa farming climatic conditions, topography and land in accordance with the terms grow cocoa and non-physical conditions related to cocoa farming in the study area are capital, labor, marketing , management and productivity of cocoa farm cocoa farm. Income derived from cocoa farming contributes greatly to the total income of farm households is equal to 91.7%. From the results of multiple regression test performed on the cocoa farm production factors to net income shows that cocoa farming labor factor is a factor that most greatly reduced the income of farmers, while the land area of cocoa is the most factors increase the income of farmers.
