PERCEPTION AND BEHAVIOR OF URBAN COMMUNITY TOWARD THE EXISTENCE OF STREET TREES IN URBAN AREA OF KEBUMEN REGENCY, CENTRAL JAVA PROVINCE

Tujuan Penelitian. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi dan perilaku masyarakat perkotaan terhadap keberadaan pepohonan peneduh jalan di Kabupaten Kebumen, faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perilaku mereka, dan apakah persepsi memediasi proses pembentukan perilaku. Persepsi dan perilaku dikaji dengan mewawancarai dan mengamati respon responden terhadap pepohonan peneduh jalan. Sementara itu, faktor yang mempengaruhi pembentukan perilaku dikaji dengan menguji hubungan antara pengetahuan, perhatian, persepsi, dan perilaku. Pengetahuan dan perhatian adalah dua aspek yang diduga mempengaruhi pembentukan perilaku melalui mediasi persepsi. Metodologi. Teori dalam studi ini didasarkan pada literatur mengenai pepohonan peneduh jalan, persepsi dan perilaku. Model struktural hubungan sebab akibat diantara aspek yang dikaji dibangun atas dasar teori yang ada. Studi ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan one-shot method. Data dikumpulkan dari responden di pusat Kota Kebumen dengan teknik quota sampling. Selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dengan bantuan software SPSS dan model persamaan struktural dengan bantuan software AMOS. Hasil Penelitian. Sebagian besar responden memiliki persepsi bagus berkenaan dengan manfaat, resiko, tanggung jawab, dan status pepohonan peneduh jalan. Sementara itu, terhadap aspek partisipasi sebagian besar responden berperilaku tidak menguntungkan. Perilaku dipengaruhi secara langsung oleh pengetahuan dan perhatian. Pengetahuan memiliki efek positif dan signifikan terhadap perilaku dengan nilai CR 2.225 dan koefisien regresi 0.222. Sedangkan perhatian menunjukkan efek positif dan signifikan dengan CR 2.202 dan koefisien regresi 0.194. Dalam studi ini persepsi tidak berasosiasi dengan perilaku.

Research Objectives. The objectives of the research was to study how perception and behavior of urban community toward street-trees in Kebumen Regency, what the factor influencing behavior of urban community, and does perception mediate behavioral shaping process. Perception and behavior were studied by interviewing and observing response of the respondent toward street-trees. Meanwhile, factors influencing behavioral shaping process were studied by examining association among knowledge, attention, perception, and behavior. Knowledge and attention were two aspects presumed influence the behavioral formation which was mediated by perception. Methodology. The theoretical part of the study was based on the literature on the subjects of street-trees, perception and behavior. Structural model of the causal relation among aspects studied was constructed based on the theory. The empirical study was conducted as a qualitative research with one-shot method. The data in the research was collected from respondents in the urban centre of Kebumen City by quota sampling. It was analyzed by descriptive statistical method using SPSS software and structural equation model using AMOS software. Research Results. The vast majority of respondent has favorable perception toward aspect of benefit, risks, responsibility and the status of the street-trees. Meanwhile, the most of respondent has unfavorable behavior to the participation aspects. Behavior is influenced knowledge and attention directly. Knowledge has positive and significant effect to behavior with CR value of 2.225 and regression coefficient of 0.222. Meanwhile, attention shows positive and significant effect to behavior with CR value of 2.202 and regression coefficient of 0.194. In this study, perception has dissociation to behavior.
