HUBUNGAN CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY DAN BIAYA MODAL EKUITAS DENGAN NILAI PERUSAHAAN SEBAGAI VARIABEL PEMODERASI: STUDI EMPIRIS DI BURSA EFEK INDONESIA

Penelitian ini menguji hubungan antara Corporate Social Responsibility dan biaya modal ekuitas dengan menggunakan nilai perusahaan TOBIN’s Q sebagai variabel pemoderasi. Sampel penelitian yang digunakan sebanyak 94 perusahaan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia sejak tahun 2004 hingga tahun 2010. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bukti bahwa Corporate Social Responsibility berhubungan negatif dan signifikan dengan biaya modal ekuitas. Dapat diartikan bahwa Tingkat pengungkapan corporate social responsibility perusahaan yang lebih luas dalam laporan tahunan pada tahun t, dapat membantu menurunkan biaya modal ekuitas pada tahun t+1. Sedangkan nilai perusahaan tidak berhubungan positif terhadap hubungan antara corporate social responsibility dan biaya modal ekuitas. Artinya, nilai perusahaan tidak memperkuat tingkat pengungkapan dan tidak membantu penurunan biaya modal ekuitas perusahaan.

This research examined the association between corporate social responsibility and the cost of equity capital with the company value as moderating variable. Sampel of this research consists of 94 firms that listed in Indonesian Stocks Exchange from 2004-2010. The results find that corporate social responsibility negatively and significantly associate with cost of equity capital. It means that firms with a high cost of equity capital in the previous year tend to initiate disclosure of CSR activities in the current year and enjoy a subsequent reduction in the cost of equity capital. Meanwhile corporate value does not have any positive relation between the association of CSR and cost of equity capital. Corporate value can not help the initiation of diclosure level and also a reduction of the company’s cost of equity capital.
