KINERJA SPEKTROMETER FOTOAKUSTIK DALAM KARAKTERISASI SCRUBBER GAS C2H4

2013 | Tesis | S2 Ilmu FisikaTelah dilakukan uji kinerja spektrometer fotoakustik (SFA) dan diperoleh batas deteksi terendah untuk gas etilen pada garis 10P14 (6.0±0.6) ppbv. Selanjutnya SFA digunakan untuk menentukan adsorptivitas scrubber dalam menangkap gas etilen. Didapatkan scrubber zeolit-KMnO4 paling efektif dibanding scrubber dengan jenis pengemban dan bahan aktif yang lain. Parameter karakteristik adsorptivitas scrubber yang diteliti meliputi pengaruh konsentrasi bahan aktif dan konsentrasi gas etilen standar, umur simpan, laju alir gas etilen yang dilewatkan, perlakuan pemanasan dan kapasitas adsorpsi. Diperoleh hasil adsorptivitas scrubber meningkat dengan peningkatan konsentrasi bahan aktif sebaliknya menurun dengan peningkatan laju alir dan umur simpan, sementara itu pola adsorpsi scrubber berubah dengan perlakuan pemanasan. Kapasitas adsorpsi untuk scrubber zeolit-KMnO4 dengan konsentrasi KMnO4 2.5 % sekitar 70 ppmliter/gram dan diperkirakan meningkat seiring peningkatan konsentrasi KMnO4.
The photoacoustic spectrometer (PAS) had been built and the performance had been determined. The lowest detection limit for this setup was (6.0±0.6) ppbv for ethylene gas in 10P14 CO2 laser line. Then, this PAS was used to identify scrubber’s adsorptivity of ethylene gas. The result was zeolite-KMnO4 scrubber give the best performance by comparing to other type of scrubbers which from different active agents and support materials. Six adsorptivity parameters of the scrubber i.e. the effect of concentration of active agent and ethylene gas standard, time of storing, speed of gas flowing, heating treatment and determination of adsorption capacity had been characterized. The results were scrubber’s adsorptivity raised by increasing the concentration of active agent (KMnO4) and concentration of ethylene gas flowed, but decreased by increasing the time of storing and speed of gas flowing. Heating would change the adsorption pattern of the scrubber. Adsorption capacity of scrubber with KMnO4 concentration of 2.5 % was measured to be 70 ppmlitre/ gram zeolit and supposed to increase by rising the concentration.
