Tesis yang berjudul Konstruksi Kekerasan dalam Media Televisi ini merupakan penelitian yang mengungkapkan tentang wacana kekerasan dalam Reality Show Penghuni Terakhir di ANTV 2010. Reality show ini bercerita tentang kondisi para penghuni yang tinggal dalam satu rumah berjuang untuk memperebutkan hadiah berupa rumah satu milliar rupiah. Kehidupan para penghuni disorot oleh kamera yang dipasang di seluruh ruangan dan ditayangkan ke pemirsa. Kamera tersebut juga memberikan pilihan kepada pemirsa untuk menilai peserta favorit dengan memberikan dukungan sms sebanyak-banyaknya. Dukungan sms inilah yang akan menjadi tolak ukur bertahannya para penghuni di tayangan penghuni terakhir. Selama menjadi penghuni rumah tersebut, mereka mengikuti semua peraturan yang berlaku dalam rumah tersebut. Mereka berjuang untuk menjadi pemenang yaitu Penghuni Terakhir dengan mengikuti game dan menjalani kehidupan yang terisolasi jauh dari kerabat. Tidak jarang dalam pertarungan game dan drama tersebut seringkali muncul adegan-adegan kekerasan. Adegan-adegan kekerasan inilah yang menjadi hal yang menarik karena berkaitan dengan strategi untuk mendapatkan dukungan dari pemirsa ANTV. Penelitian ini menggunakan rekaman tayangan reality show Penghuni Terakhir yang berhasil direkam sejak kemunculan tayangan ini yaitu di bulan juli. Rekaman yang diambil meliputi episode 13, 15, 16, 17 dan 19. Pemilihan episode tersebut karena menampilkan adegan kekerasan antara penghuni. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengungkapkan konstruksi kekerasan ialah metode Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). Penggunaan metode ini sendiri tidak terlepas dari usaha pemahaman yang lebih mendalam pada suatu wacana, tidak hanya sebatas teks tetapi juga konteksnya. Analisis data akan difokuskan pada tayangan kekerasan pada Penghuni Terakhir ANTV 2010. Hasil temuan dari penelitian, yaitu: pertama, bentuk kekerasan lebih mengarah pada kekerasan psikologis berupa pelecehan dan pemaksaan. Efek kekerasan yaitu negative dan positif yaitu perubahan yang terjadi setelah ada kekerasan. Partisipan kekerasan yaitu subjek dan objek kekerasan. Motif kekerasan yaitu kekuasaan berkaitan dengan keinginan para penghuni untuk memenangkan rumah bernilai satu milliar. Sumber kekerasan yaitu struktural dan personal.

The thesis which tittle is Construction of Violence in Television Media is the research that reveals about violence discourse in The Last Resident Reality Show in ANTV 2010.The reality show told about the condition of residents who stayeded in one house fighting for a house amounted one billion rupiah. The life of residents was highlighted by the cameras that were placed in all the rooms and broadcasted to the audience. The cameras also provided some choices to the audience to judge favorite resident by giving supportive short message service (sms) as much as possible. The supportive sms that was given by the audience would be a barometer whether the residents remained until the last resident episode. As long as being the residents of the house, they followed all the rules that conducted in the house. They struggled to be the winner, namely The Last Resident by following the game and went trough the isolated life far away from the family. Frequently in the struggle of game and drama violence act often showed up. The violence acts became an interesting thing because they were related to the strategy to gain support from ANTV audience. The research used The Last Resident reality show episodes that had been recorded since their appearance in July 2010. The records that were taken included 13, 15, 16, 17, and 19 episode. Those episodes were chosen because they showed violence actions among resident. The method used to discover violence construction was Critical Discourse Analysis. The use of this method was aimed at deeper understanding on a discourse, which was not merely as a text but also included its context. Data analysis focused on violence episodes in the Last Resident ANTV 2010. The finding of research result covered three findings. Firstly, violence form tended to psychological violence such as mockery and force. Secondly, violence effect could produce negative and positive changing that happened after the violence. Thirdly, violence participant not only the subject but also became the object of violence. Fourthly, violence motive was the power domination relating to the need of residents to win the house amounted one billion. Fifthly, violence source were characterized structural and personal.
