ANALISIS WACANA HUMOR VERBAL BAHASA INGGRIS (Studi Kasus pada Serial Komedi Situasi How I Met Your Mother)

Humor sejatinya bagian dari suatu proses komunikasi. Orang bereaksi dengan humor dan tawa dalam situasi yang berbeda-beda. Walaupun penelitian humor telah banyak dilakukan, hanya sedikit penelitan yang membahas humor dalam sebuah film serial komedi situasi (situation comedy). Salah satu komedi situasi yang cukup sukses adalah How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM). Komedi situasi How I Met Your Mother ini memiliki banyak aspek-aspek linguistik sebagai humor. Terdapat empat hal yang menarik untuk diteliti, yaitu (1) aspek-aspek pragmatik yang dimanfaatkan untuk menimbulkan kelucuan, (2) aspek-aspek kebahasaan yang dimanfaatkan untuk menimbulkan kelucuan, (3) pemanfaatan dan penyimpangan komponen tutur demi humor, dan (4) kejenakaan dilihat dari General Theory of Verbal Humor Salvatore Attardo. Tujuan penulisan ini secara umum ingin mendeskripsikan wacana humor dalam film komedi situasi How I Met Your Mother dan mencari tahu kelucuankelucuan yang diakibatkan aspek-aspek linguistik yang ada berdasarkan empat rumusan masalah yang ada. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif untuk mengkaji empat masalah yang mengemuka. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode simak dan catat untuk diklasifikasikan. Data kemudian dianalisis dengan metode deskripsi analisis dan disajikan secara deskriptif dengan mengungkapkan hasil analisis melalui kata-kata atau dengan kalimat-kalimat. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa HIMYM menggunakan aspek-aspek kebahasaan sebagai pemicu humor berupa ortografis, fonologis, morfologis, ketaksaan, hiponimi, antonimi, nama, eufemisme, hiperbola, deiksis, pertalian elemen intra sentensial, pertalian elemen inter sentensial, dan pertalian elemen antar proposisi. Pada tataran pragmatik, penelitian ini mendeskripsikan humor dilihat dari penyimpangan prinsip kerjasama dan prinsip kesopanan, prinsip ironi, dan presuposisi. Komsit HIMYM ini juga memanfaatkan semua segi komponen tutur. Penelitian ini juga membahas humor yang ditemukan dalam komsit HIMYM melalui General Theory of Verbal Humor beserta kekurangan teori tersebut.

Humor is actually part of human communication process. People will react to humor and laughter in different situations. There have been many researches about humor, however there are only a few discussing humor in situation comedy. One of the successful situation comedies is How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM). How I Met Your Mother has many linguistics aspects as humorous device. There are four interesting matter to be observed, they are (1) the use of pragmatic aspects to create humor, (2) the use of the linguistics aspects to arouse humor, (3) the use and the flouting of speaking components as humor, and (4) the humor seen through General Theory of Verbal Humor of Salvatore Attardo. This research generally aims to describe humor discourse in situation comedy How I Met Your Mother and to find out the humor caused by existing linguistics aspects based on the four problems formulated before. This research is a descriptive-qualitative research that discusses four problems formulated before. The researcher collected the data by observing and then taking note for classifying. The researcher then analyzed the data through descriptive analysis method and presented them descriptively by expressing the analysis through words or sentences. The research finds out that HIMYM uses linguistics aspects as the trigger like orthographic, phonology, morphology, ambiguity, hyponym, antonym, name, euphemism, hyperbole, deixis, intra-sentential element relation, inter-sentential element relation, and proposition element relation. Pragmatically, this research describes humor seen from the flouting of cooperative principle and politeness principle, the use of irony principle, and presupposition. HIMYM is also using all the speaking components. This research also discusses humor in HIMYM using General Theory of Verbal Humor. Moreover, this research also tries to explain GTVH’s flaws.
