MAKNA KERJA PEREMPUAN PEKERJA DI SEKTOR INFORMAL

Penghasilan yang tidak menentu namun mampu bertahan lama dengan bekerja sebagai perempuan pekerja di sektor informal yang ada di wilayah Yogyakarta menarik peneliti untuk melakukan penelitian ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan memahami makna kerja perempuan pekerja di sektor informal dan strategi koping yang di lakukan dalam hal ini yaitu mereka yang bekerja sebagai penambal ban, buruh gendong dan juru parkir. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologi. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara secara mendalam terhadap 5 orang perempuan responden penelitian, yaitu dua orang penambal ban, dua orang buruh gendong dan satu orang juru parkir. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa meskipun penghasilan sebagai pekerja di sektor informal tidak menentu, namun mereka tetap bertahan dan nyaman menjalankan pekerjaannya sebagai penambal ban, buruh gendong dan juru parkir perempuan. Pekerjaan dimaknai sebagai sebuah ibadah yaitu bekerja tidak hanya bertujuan mencari uang semata tetapi juga bertujuan menolong, dengan hati ikhlas bisa menerima berapapun bayaran atau upah yang diberikan pengguna jasanya dan selalu bersyukur dengan hasil yang didapatkan karena mereka yakin rejeki sudah ada yang mengatur. Pekerjaan juga dimaknai sebagai kebebasan karena tidak terikat aturan kerja sehingga dapat bekerja dan berhenti sewaktu- waktu bila ada keperluan dan dapat dikerjakan sebagai sambilan. Perempuan pekerja di sektor informal juga memaknai pekerjaannya sebagai hiburan yaitu dapat bersosialisasi dengan teman maupun pemakai jasanya dan juga dapat menikmati suasana sekitar tempat bekerja, hal tersebut juga dapat disimpulkan sebagai strategi koping perempuan pekerja di sektor informal.

This research is a study about the female workers in Yogyakarta region who work in informal sectors whose income is highly unpredictable. Despite of the unpredictable earnings, they keep doing the job and survive. Therefore, the researcher is interested to discuss this topic. The research aims to recognize and understand the meaning of work for female workers in the informal sector and coping strategies used by those who work as female tire patcher, female goods porter in traditional market, and female parker. This research is using phenomenology qualitative method. The data gathering was conducted by in-depth interview to five female workers of the research respondents consisting of two tire patchers, two porters, and one parker. The findings of this research shows that although the income as informal sector female workers is highly unpredictable, they survive and feel comfortable to do their jobs as tire patcher, porter, and parker. They consider the work as the part of religious ritual and its purpose is not only to earn money but also to help other people sincerely. They accept any amount of money given by their customers and they are always grateful with the income they get because they believe that their fortune has been decided by God. They also regard their work as independence because they do not have any time boundary so that they can take a break at anytime if they have another business and they can do other work partially. In addition, informal sector female workers perceive their jobs as amusement because they can socialize with other people such as friends and customers and enjoy the situation around the workplace. This perception can be viewed as coping strategies for the female workers in the informal sectors.
