SISTEM INFORMASI BERBASIS WEB UNTUK MONITORING PENCAPAIAN KOMPETENSI MAHASISWA PADA KURIKULUM BERBASIS KOMPETENSI

Dalam mendukung keberhasilan Perguruan Tinggi yang menerapkan kurikulum berbasis kompetensi untuk menghasilkan lulusan yang baik dan memiliki kompetensi, maka diperlukan suatu proses pembelajaran yang baik. Permasalahannya adalah, bagaimana cara memantau pencapaian kompetensi mahasiswa selama proses belajar. Berdasarkan dari permasalahan di atas, maka dipandang perlu adanya sistem pemantauan pencapaian kompetensi mahasiswa. Setiap tahap kemajuan belajar mahasiswa akan menjadi masukan bagi sistem agar pengguna dapat mengidentifikasi apakah seorang mahasiswa telah mencapai kompetensi yang ditetapkan atau belum. Kompetensi mahasiswa bidang akademik adalah kompetensi tentang pencapaian keilmuan sesuai dengan tahapan-tahapan kompetensi pada kurikulum yang disusun oleh program studi. Metodologi penelitian yang dilakukan adalah menerapkan perancangan dan pemodelan rekayasa perangkat lunak khususnya rekayasa web. Tahapan ini meliputi pengumpulan data dengan melakukan studi pustaka, penentuan data primer dan sekunder. Data primer adalah data referensi skema KBK, kompetensi utama, sub kompetensi, skill, kelompok kompetensi yang diterjemahkan menjadi aturan kompetesi. Data sekunder adalah data yang diperoleh dari sistem informasi yang sudah ada yaitu data mahasiswa, dosen, makuliah/kurikulum, KRS, KHS,transkrip dan transkrip salinan. Tahap selanjutnya adalah analisa kebutuhan dengan teknik wawancara untuk menentukan indikator dari sebuah kebutuhan. Setelah kebutuhan diketahui kemudian dilakukan desain perangkat lunak sistem informasi monitoring pencapaian kompetensi mahasiswa berbasis web dengan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman PHP dan database MySQL. Pengujian sistem dilakukan dengan cara Unit Testing yang dilakukan terus menerus secara mandiri untuk mengetahui kemungkinan muncul bug. Setelah sistem siap untuk diimplementasikan dilakukan pengujian Acceptance Testing oleh pengguna untuk memberikan penilaian apakah hasil akhir sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Hasil penelitian adalah berupa sistem informasi berbasis web untuk monitoring pencapaian kompetensi mahasiswa pada KBK. Pengguna sistem ini adalah mahasiswa, dosen wali (pembimbing akademik) dan pejabat struktural (ketua program studi). Sistem ini menghasilkan 6 fungsi monitoring pencapaian kompetensi yaitu perkembangan studi, sebaran matakuliah sesuai dengan skema KBK, kompetensi utama, sub kompetensi, skill dan kelompok kompetensi.

Higher education applying competence-based curriculum needs to administer a good teaching and learning process in order to prepare the students to have qualified competences. Therefore, it is needed to monitor the students’ achievements. This research, thus, was conducted to design a system for monitoring the achievements of the students’ competences. Each step of the students’ progress was and will always be processed by the system to find out whether a student has accomplished the targeted competences. The competences indicated the academic achievements of a certain student in fulfilling a competence-based curriculum. The data was gathered by applying software engineering designs and models, especially web engineering. The fist step was collecting primary and secondary data by administering library research. The primary data was the scheme of the competence-based curriculum, the list of main subjects, sub-competences, skills, and group-competence subjects. Whereas the secondary data was about the students, teachers, subjects/curriculum, study plan, semester transcript, and transcript taken from the available academic information system. The next step was a need analysis by using interview technique to determine the indicators of the needs. Once the needs were found, an information system for monitoring the achievements of the students’ competences was designed. This system was a web-based using PHP language programing and MySQL database. The system was tested by continually applying independent Unit Testing to ensure the possibility of bug appearance. Once the system was ready to be applied, Acceptance Testing was used by the users to assess whether the outcome has met with their needs. The research result was a web-based information system for monitoring the achievements of the students’ competences in a competence-based curriculum. The users of the system are students, academic advisers, and academic officers (the head of department). The system produced 6 functions of monitoring the achievements of competences. They are the study progress, subjects’ distribution based on competence-based curriculum scheme, main competences, sub-competences, skills, and group of competences.
