DESIGN OF L-SEALER AS A SUPPORT FOR THE BOOK PUBLISHING INDUSTRY

Usaha penerbitan dan percetakan buku merupakan salah satu industri kreatif di Indonesia yang mempunyai prospek bisnis sangat cerah. Proses akhir dalam produksi buku adalah proses pengemasan dengan plastik menggunakan impulse Sealer yang kurang efektif karena menggunakan enam gerakan dari operator kerja. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menemukan metoda baru dan alat baru untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan efesiensi kerja. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan membandingkan impulse sealer dan L Sealer dengan studi waktu menggunakan stop watch dan peta tangan kanan kiri . Hasilnya selanjutnya dianalisa dengan membandingkan cacat produksi, lamanya waktu pengerjaan dan jumlah gerakan operator antara impulse sealer dengan L Sealer. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan L sealer memberikan efesiensi waktu sebesar 17.77% dibandingkan impulse sealer. Analisa ekonomi menunjukkan bahwa L sealer memberikan keuntungan sebesar Rp 385.200 units/perbulan jika L sealer diproduksi massal. BEP dicapai dalam 1,7 tahun pada penjualan Rp 1.015.568 per unit. L Sealer sangat cocok dipergunakan pada industri kecil dan menengah karena pembuatannya sederhana, harganya tidak mahal, tidak membutuhkan daya listrik yang besar.

Book publishing and printing business is one of the creative industries in Indonesia which has a very bright prospect. End of the book production process is the process of plastic packaging by using the impulse sealer, which is less effective because it still uses a six-movement work from the operator. The purpose of this study is to find new methods and new tools to improve productivity and efficiency of work. The research’s methods carried out by comparing the impulse sealer and L Sealer, with the study of time using a stop watch and a map of the right hand side. The results are then analyzed by comparing the defect, the length of processing time and the amount of movement between the impulse sealer operators with L Sealer. The experimental results showed that the use of L sealer provides time efficiency of 17.77% compared to the impulse sealer. The economic analysis shows that the L sealer gives a profit of Rp 385,200 units / month if L sealer mass produced. BEP is achieved in 1.7 years on sales of Rp 1,015,568 per unit. L Sealer is particularly useful in small and medium industries because its manufacture is simple, inexpensive, does not require a big electricity consumption.
