Tujuan dari penulisan tesis dengan judul “Kajian Terhadap Hak dan Kewajiban Antara Microsoft dengan Perguruan Tinggi Di wilayah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta Terkait Dengan Pelaksanaan Pemberian Lisensi Software Komputer” ini adalah untuk mengetahui hak dan kewajiban antara Microsoft dengan perguruan tinggi di wilayah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta serta untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan lisensi program komputer antara Microsoft dengan perguruan tinggi. Penelitian ini merupakan tipe penelitian deskriptif normatif sedangkan pendekatan yang digunakan adalah yuridis normatif. Untuk kepentingan pengumpulan data dalam menjawab permasalahan maka diadakan penelitian lapangan dengan melakukan wawancara dengan Narasumber dan Responden yang berkaitan dengan permasalahan. Sehingga dari keseluruhan data yang diperoleh diharapkan dapat memberikan arah pada kesimpulan.

The purpose of writing a thesis entitled \"Study on the Rights and Obligations Between the Microsoft with college in the region of Yogyakarta Special Region Related to the Implementation of the Computer Software Licensing\" is to know the rights and obligations between Microsoft and college in the region of Yogyakarta Special Region and to know the implementation of licensing Microsoft's computer programs with college. This research is a type of descriptive normative research, while approach used is juridical normative. For the purposes of the collection of data in answer to the problem, then conducted field research through interviews with specialists and the respondents relating to the problem. Thus, all the data is expected to give meaning to a conclusion. Based on the results of the research show that the rights and obligations between Microsoft and the college in the region of Yogyakarta, which arise after the agreement is approved in the agreement for the implementation of Microsoft Campus Agreement for purchase of licences for the purposes of the college. Microsoft's implementation of licensing to college in Yogyakarta is done by purchase of a license from Microsoft. Purchasing a license is quite expensive, the University does not provide the opportunity to students to obtain the original software, the software of the University that provides only the original to the Faculty and staff. Students can only use the original software on computer facilities have been provided by the university campus.
