ESTETIKA PASCAMODERNISME SEBAGAI ALEGORI POLITIK ORDE BARU: KAJIAN SEMIOTIKA PASCASTRUKTURAL TERHADAP NOVEL BOMA KARYA YANUSA NUGROHO

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya fenomena reinterpretasi cerita wayang ke dalam karya sastra Indonesia secara menyimpang dari pakem wayangnya, yang tidak sekadar bertujuan menggarap ulang dan mentransformasikan mitologi wayang yang standar, tetapi juga menjadi sebuah alegori politik bagi hubungan kekuasaan di bawah suatu rezim, yakni Orde Baru. Fenomena tersebut menunjukkan kemunculan pascamodernisme dengan karakteristiknya yang khas dalam sastra Indonesia, yang juga mengemuka dalam novel Boma karya Yanusa Nugroho, dengan mengusung estetika pascamodernisme di sebalik gaya eklektik dan idiom estetik pascamodernismenya. Permasalahan yang muncul berdasarkan latar belakang masalah yang ada adalah: (1) estetika pascamodernisme dalam novel Boma karya Yanusa Nugroho; dan (2) estetika pascamodernisme sebagai alegori politik Orde Baru dalam novel Boma karya Yanusa Nugroho. Untuk mengungkap kedua permasalahan tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Semiotika Pascastruktural, dengan dibantu konsep-konsep mengenai gaya pascamodernisme, estetika pascamodernisme, leksia dan lima kode Barthes, serta konsep mengenai alegori politik dalam karya sastra. Berdasarkan permasalahan yang ada, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap estetika pascamodernisme dan bentuk-bentuk alegori politik di sebalik penggunaan estetika pascamodernisme dalam novel Boma karya Yanusa Nugroho. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) estetika pascamodernisme dalam novel Boma ditunjukkan melalui gayanya yang bersifat eklektik dalam mencampuradukkan teks-teks dan pluralitas idiom estetik sekaligus multidimensi kode-kodenya; (2) estetika pascamodernisme yang didasarkan pada penggunaan gaya eklektik dan idiom-idiom estetik pascamodernisme dalam novel Boma, mengandung makna alegori politik terhadap Orde Baru dalam bentuk: gaya eklektik sebagai alegori orisinalitas, universalitas, dan rasionalitas dari modernisme Orde Baru; idiom estetik pastische sebagai alegori politik pembangunanisme Orde Baru; idiom estetik parodi sebagai alegori politik represivitas pemerintah Orde Baru; idiom estetik kitsch sebagai alegori politik “Jawaisme” Orde Baru; idiom estetik camp sebagai alegori politik politisasi Islam Orde Baru, dan idiom estetik schizophrenia sebagai alegori politik ambiguitas pemerintah Orde Baru.

The background of the study was the phenomena of puppet shadow play reinterpretation in Indonesian literature that diverged from the source book for Javanese puppet shadow play (pakem), not only to rework and to transform the existing standard puppet shadow mythology but also to serve as political allegory of the relationship of the power of the ruling regime, which was New Order. The phenomena were indicative of the emergence of postmodernism with its typical characteristics in Indonesian literature, which was also profound in novel Boma by Yanusa Nugroho, with carrying postmodernism esthetics in back of eclectic style and postmodern esthetical idioms. The problems rising from the background of the study were related to: (1) postmodern esthetics in the novel Boma by Yanusa Nugroho; and (2) the postmodern esthetics as New Order political allegory in the novel Boma by Yanusa Nugroho. They were examined using post-structural semiotic approach with the concepts of postmodernism, postmodern esthetics, lexia and Barthes’ five codes and of political allegory in literature works. Based on the existing problems of the study, it aimed at finding out the postmodern esthetics, and the forms of the political allegory behind the use of the postmodern esthetics in the novel Boma by Yanusa Nugroho. The results of the study showed that: (1) postmodern esthetics in the novel Boma as indicated by its eclectic style in mish mashing texts and plurality of the esthetic idioms and its multidimensional codes; (3) the postmodern esthetics that was based on the use of eclectic style and postmodern esthetic idioms in the novel Boma and contained the political allegoric meaning of the New Order in the forms of: eclectic style as the political allegory of originality, universality, and rationality of the modernism New Order; pastische esthetic idiom as the political allegory of New Order developmentalism, parody esthetic idiom as the political allegory of New Order government repressiveness, kitsch esthetic idiom as the political allegory of New Order “Javanism”, camp esthetic idiom as the political allegory of New Order Islam politicking, and schizophrenia esthetic idiom as the political allegory of New Order government ambiguity.
